I have a broadband connection. One of the major broadband ISPs in TOronto is Rogers. Their speed lately has been alright. It used to be a "slow" broadband. Now it is much faster, but still every now and then, it slows down a lot. |

No kidding... I coudn't download ANY anime in months due to my goddamn dial up connection.
A least now I have college networking. It's got a firewall to slow my downloads badly, but at least it's free. _________________

Well, I had a 56 kbps dial-up before. Then something went wrong and we had to endure a speed of 14 kbps net connection for 2-3 months...
As a compensation, my parents upgraded to a 300 kbps DSL. (^_~)v
What's the difference between a cable/broadband and DSL, anyway? Our DSL at home doesn't start automatically when I turn on the PC, it acts like a dial-up, but has faster speeds. Although like a dial-up, it doesn't require the dialtone of a phone, but still needs a phone line.
I think a broadband on the otherhand,is a connection which you don't have to dial anything. Boot up the PC, and voila. Net connection upon start-up. And it doesn't need a phone connection, just a cable, like from a TV. _________________ EX-mod |

| You could argue back and forth all you want if dsl is better or worse than cable. It depends on where you are from. In Germany you can get cable only in major cities, so dsl is the way to go here. The thing is ... we have 4000kbps dsl. That's fast enough to download anything in a reasonable amount of time. And it's a dial-up connection but since it only disconnects after 24h and my router dials for me, it's no problem at all. |
