I do not know if this has been brought up before, if it has please close this thread. But I think this would be something very cool for A-S. I have seen on a lot of other boards that they have fan clubs. We need to create a section for fan clubs, I think it would be another great place to expand the interaction and involvement of the A-S community.
It's interresting, could you like develop the idea a little ? You want to create group, but what would it allow and how would it work. You join a group or union... then ??
Well basically you have a section of the forum where people can come together and form fan clubs for certain anime or characters etc... And through this you could create a community for those people who love that anime, character etc...Um I know I am not making the best of arguments, and I apologize, I have had a long day. But regardless, if you give me a bit of time I could present you with a detailed argument in favor of my position.
But in the mean time, it is basically like I previously stated, a place where people could create fan clubs and discuss about the subject in question and to be able to converse with people who have the same "feelings."
Like I stated, I will provide you with a more in-depth statement in a bit.
So basicly, you simply want a forum for people to form clubs ? That's pretty easy to do, but would there be a purpose to those clubs ? You want a forum for each club ? Or something special.
I'm not trying to put the idea down. I'm just trying to find what your ideas would need, imply and produce for the community, beside gathering members in clubs. Like if you want something more special. Like "I want to be able to subscribe to a club". Then if the club approves me I have a special item that tells I'm member of that union.
Just something more concrete to see if it's "do-able" or if it's too big a project versus our current projects.

Frundock sorry for the slow reply I have been really busy. Well, basically you pointed out one of the main things about the fan clubs:

But more than that, it would be a sub community for people to come together and discuss their love for different characters, shows, manga etc. in which they could create avatars, signatures, have competitions and other get together that would promote their love and further cultivate a community atmosphere for A-S. An example would be : http://www.anime-forums.com/viewforum.php?f=60 , where they have an assortment of fan clubs. But you do not have to do it like that, we could create something new and unique. Especially with a fast growing community, what would be cool is to get more and more people to participate in the A-S community and give them another place in which to participate and add to the website.
If you have any more questions about the idea feel free to ask, maybe we could brainstorm about it. Furthermore, if you need help with anything like this or other parts of A-S I would like to help.
