As has been discussed in many other threads, there is an interest in seeing where animation will be going in America (and abroad). People have varying different opinions when it comes to accepting/liking the animation that comes out of this country, especially where a lot of the programs seem to be quite juvenile, immature and made only for profit.
However, as the internet continues to grow and evolve, and provides us with new mediums in which to interact and provide entertainment, we are seeing a new evolution....streaming t.v. shows on the internet. Now you would think that the most successful dramas and "reality shows" would become just as popular on the internet, this is not the case. In fact, it is animation that reigns on the internet. At this point there are numerous major animation streaming sites: adultswim.com, toonamijetstream.com, http://www.nick.com/turbonick/index.jhtml, and http://www.disney.go.com/disneychannel/. All of these sites are averaging in the hundreds of thousands a week. In fact, Toonami Jestream (which broadcasts a lot of anime, both new and old) streamed close to 10 million videos and had 750,000 unique viewers (http://www.mediaweek.com/mw/news/recent_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003119172) Please see previous website to see further details about the growth of internet streaming and animation.
So I ask you the A-S community what do you think about the future of animation and the internet. Is this the revolution/evolution that we have been looking for? Let us open up some dialogue on this interesting topic.
what do you want? Type and watch on a PC monitor with high consumable in electricity with only a 14 inch monitor, or just watch in a sofa while watching TV?
Yeah, internet animation was booming, and THEY SHOULD BE because if without these, the internet as we know it would never survive. Just as like online games like Everquest and Asheron's call. But doesnt mean because there are online games like this one doesnt mean that games today are evolve and being shift to internet.
Internet animation wasnt a revolution in animation, its just a different genre. Just as like console gaming, PC gaming and arcade games...
