Party Ideas? What makes for a good party?

I'm not much of a party person, so i have never thought of throwing any random parties. ALthough, lately i have been thinking about different themes.

like dress up parties:

* Pirate party

* 60's/ 70's/ 80's Party etc

* coloured parties ( where you have to wear a certain colour, like pink)

these are the main ones...but if anybody has ideas, or parties they been to and activities they have participated, i'd love to know

well most parties depends on the type of people
which attend, i read somewhere a party where your
required to wear a hat helps.

that way if you see someone with a cool had you can comment
on it, striking up a convo ^^.

- slumber party
- cosplay party?

masquerade balls are cool.. Very Happy

its different from costume parties.... you got to have a mask.. Very Happy

one that covers your face.. Very Happy

so you hook up and all that... and near the end of the party you take off the masks to reveal the one your hitting on.. Very Happy

every party needs booze.. Very Happy

lowers the inhibitions and the shyness of people.. Very Happy

Actally I have never attended a truly successful theme party in my life. Some people have tried tropical/hawaiian, cosplay, bikini, and nude. All minus the tropical were horrible failures. Yes even the nude one was boring as hell. I wasnt nude but neither was anyone else LMAO. But then again, Im not exactly a "social group" kind of person. I would rather just talk with a few friends. I cant stand it when there are lots of people around and there is a lot of noise. But if you want a theme party the only suggestion I can make is to make it actually good. By good I mean authentic. For example, at the tropical party I went to, everyone was REALLY dressed up, like palm skirts and surfboarders and tiki huts and a nice bonfire and even tropical music and dances. It was on the beach , so it felt like I was on an island, not in somebodies back yard. So whatever theme party you do, just make it real for your guests. Go all the way or dont try at all.
