|
|
For those who've seen at least a handful of different anime series, you've probably noticed that the same "types" of episodes emerge at some point in the run. Most series have at least one, two or ALL of the following. Of the list, vote for the type you typically tend to enjoy the most.
Episode number range based on a 26-episode series, but it's not set in stone. These typical episodes can really show up at any time... sometimes even mulitple times... but more often than not, they come in the range provided.
01-02 Introduction: Characters, setting, and basic story (sometime backstory) are introduced
04-07 Swimsuit Episode: Usually a group trip to the beach or local pool
04-07 cooking competition: For whatever reason, characters decide to settle disputes with a cooking competition. Other times characters are excelling in all classes except Home Economics and the only way to earn a passing grade is to win a bake-off.
06-09 School Culture Festival: A cafe or a haunted house... yeah... it's usually one of those two options
07-10 sports festival: Usually comes right after the culture festival... I guess those are the typical summer/autumn events Japanese schools host annually.
08-11 Hot Springs Trip: The main characters usually "just happens" to "win" some kind of trip to a luxurious hot springs. Of course, supporting cast and rivals usually turn up at the same exact time.
10-13 Christmas and/or New Years Day: Decorations, food, talk of Santa, difficulty of choosing gifts... all that jazz. Plus, the start of a new year... and of course the festivals and the visit to the local shrine for new years ritual.
11-15 plot twist: Could be anything, but chances are... YOU NEVER SAW IT COMING!!! wah haw haw haw
12-18 character death: maybe it's cause for celebration, but more likely it will be someone you had high hopes for making it. Either way, there's a lot of drama to come.
25-26 final battle/resolution: Can be a two-parter... can be rushed in the last 15 minutes... either way, everything that happened in the last 25 episodes better be solved by the time the final credits roll. It is a happy and sad occassion... happy that God Is In His Heaven, All Is Right With The World... sad that the anime is over... unless there's word of a sequel and/or OVA and/or Movie and/or alternate retelling... meh, depends on how much money there is to be made. _________________

This is a really hard choice....For me, I'd pick plot twist, with resolution coming in a close second. I'd have to consider whether the plot twist or ending is good IMO, though.
Episodes such as Cultural Festivals with cafes as the main theme and Swimsuit episodes as well as Hot Spring episodes are mostly for fanservice...Not that I don't like that, but they pose as a less glamorous option for me in comparison. There can be a few meaningful insights about what the characters think while in these episodes, but nothing electrifying or earth-shaking would happen from there...Unless it's an explosive finale like Shakugan no Shana or Utwarerumono or a most unexpected plot twist like Bleach's
Aizen Sousuke being the mastermind of the mishaps in Sereitei.

wouldn't it be awesome to have the plot twist coincide with the hotspring trip...
like revelations are popping up here and there when women talk together on the hot springs and same goes with the guys.. _________________

actually that wouldnt be half bad, the only thing is that u have to add the traditional dividing wall breaking and the guys being blamed for it. it might ruin the serious mood especially if the episode would end with that intense conversation in the onsen. still i would love to see a series like that _________________ ALL HAIL LELOUCH

i'd like to choose the ending since i'm always wanted to see how everything will/should be. but also i'd like the "peaceful episodes" which tell some side story about the character. _________________ Whatever the past has been, has been the past...

I missed a lot because there's a limit on poll options. Oh well, I got the major ones, at least. _________________

never underestimate the power of a hot springs trip. I prefer the beach episodes over that though. Can't beat sun, sand and surf ^__^
However, for the sake of the poll, I picked the First/Introduction Episode. Every anime finds a different way of introducing it's cast and it's fun to meet new people. So far, the best series to start off its run was Futakoi: Alternative. I love those still frame narratives _________________

true that is a good part but if sometimes they rush it and it kinda comes out too fast to follow, for me anyway _________________ ALL HAIL LELOUCH

I was hesitating in voting considering that the school culture/sport fests usually involve some kind of romance; but I had to settle with the plot twist since that's usually the most exciting/on-the-edge-of-your-seat moment. For me anyway. _________________ [IMG:403:130:3eda1eb6d9]http://www.anime-source.com/upload/uploadFiles/strykersig.jpg[/img:3eda1eb6d9] |
