Just a question, how does a anime qualify's disqualify from the "Most popular my rating" list? Many anime have higher ratings than 8.65 but they do not appear in that list..
Like
Noein 9.4 (didnt appear in the top romance either)
Utawarerumono 9.7
Kodocha 8.8
somemore i cant remember... |

I think that to appear in that (or any) list anime series have to have at least 10 reviews written about them. Noein has 7, Utawarerumono also has 7 and so does Kodocha, so they haven't been sufficiently reviewed to be listed there yet. _________________

That's because for individual categories the minimum number of reviews is 5. This was decided after there weren't enough horror animes with 10 reviews to put up a viable list. 10 is the minimum number to make it to the BIG top list of all, while 5 is the requirement for the smaller individual genres.... I think. _________________

yeah, that makes sense... cause otherwise a brand new anime with a single 10.0 review could shoot to the top of the list _________________

| Utawarerumono is a relatively new anime... now that it is finished subbing... I will officially delete all the reviews in it and send the message out that they need to be redone. |

| Why does it need to be redone? Many other animes has been reviewed before it has finished. Even those which has finished, some still rate based on only a certain number of episodes (YES AGAINST the policy written by Tevesh) |

Thats really shouldn't happen if all the staff are following policy.
As a policy we like to have people reviewing the anime who've seen the whole thing. Quite a few anime series don't get 'good' until midway or latter half of the show. A reviewer who has only seen first couple episodes and got turned off by the anime and rates based on that is not being very fair to the anime and could be misleading others.
We do let people review partial anime series when there's a new show underway just for some commentary for others to pick up and read to see if they would like to start watching the new show.
When the show is done we message everyone who's written a review with a copy of their old review so they can edit and add things to it before resubmitting after watching the whole series and it also offers them a chance to change their ratings if their impression of the show changed.
Hope that makes sense to you. _________________

Please PM me where you have seen the partial reviews and the ASART can work on getting the reviewers to resubmit an updated one.
Thanks _________________

It's a lot of work to contact people about their partial reviews. I try to officially announce it for the popular anime new anime that I follow when they are done. Other review adminstrators do similar (I hope) but I will be happy to look at partial reviews and ask the person to resend them. Feel free to contact me about them. Old anime will have some partial reviews unfortunately but those numbers will go down eventually as we work on them.
Noein was a favorite anime of mine that I went ahead and tracked. I cleaned up the partial reviews after it was fully subbed... so it's in good shape.
Again, if you feel that there is an anime that requires our attention.. PM it please.
Note that I don't look at this part of the forum often, as I am working on STUDD and reviews... so I get busy but that doesn't mean that your input is not important. Other non-review admin do check this part of the forum regularly. |

I wonder if it would be a good idea if a user can actually edit their reviews once they have been posted on the site. Some people wrote a review of one anime even though they have not seen it in entirety, then after a while, their impression changed. Some of them may want to come back and edit their reviews, but it is impossible to do so in this site.
Otherwise I must agree with you that reviews which are not based on 100% on the anime usually give a very inaccurate impression about the series. I think a reviewer should always write a review once (s)he has seen everything in entirety, unless a particular anime is too long & stupid that no one can bear to finish them (such as Beyblade and Battle Bedaman for example *lol*) _________________ [IMG:205:157:4263622574]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v608/charn/suzumiya-ep04-02.gif[/img:4263622574]

I fear allowing people to edit their own reviews because they might put in appropriate things that we wont notice till later.... such as spoilers.
One of the admins is however working on the site making reviewers state how many episodes they watched when they wrote the review...
Not watching all the episodes will result in the review not being used towards the rating... the idea is still being tossed around. |
