Okay, episode five. Comedy! That persistent nurse with her jar for... well a certain substance, was hilarious. Especially when it wasn't big enough! I wasn't expecting that kind of innuendo in this show.
I still want to know what the name is all about. I mean, a pumpkin and some scissors are pretty disparate items and, even symbolically, they don't seem to have any relation to the army... I hope they'll explain the title at some point. And I hope it's a good explanation, too. |
Damn... boy this ep is hilarious... persistent nurse and even a soft going member in the information centre... that Mr.Velentino guy sure does know how to do his job well. Looking at him coming out from the room dressing does give me a good impression whats taking so long for him to get "Informations".
Pumpkin a vegetable isn't it? Hmm... scissors main use for cutting stuffs, tailoring perhaps... war relief = Clothes and foods? _________________ [img:800:198:5c85a10b1b]http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1347/feenasighk3.jpg[/img:5c85a10b1b] |

Episode 6...sadly, no actions are present on this one as well. But still, that doesn't make me lose interest in it, since I've become really interested in the 901-ATT that Corporal was IN.
He picked up a baby that was left on the gates of HQ and tried to take care of it lol. The Lieutenant on the other hand is CLUELESS as always to such things like this, and we also get to know where oreld came from...the streets.

I'm wondering why one whole episode is given to intorducing the Lt's fiance and is she being courted by two people? I'm a tad bit confused on the status of the earlier gentelman that called on her.
I wonder if the fiance is somehow tied into the shadows that seem to be moving just out of sight for now, if he is a villian?

I found the innuendos from ep 5 really out of place. While there has been some light comedy it seems like the show has taken a mostly serious tone dealing with injustices.
Some comic relief is good, but personally, I wasn't really amused.
I think they should steer clear of any more references to male genatalia.
They definately need to come up with something better than a dog that chops down on peoples heads too.
Aside from the failing comedy, I really like how it deals with poverty so compasionately. |

| what was up with that nurse in ep 4 and trying to get a urine sample? and why was she trying to get it her self instead of telling him to go to the bathroom to get it? although that would be kind of kinky if a nurse just reaches into your pants and starts playing with your junk. |

| The guy had a leg in a cast at the time. That usually implies being less mobile, therefore needing extra help with things and it being preferable for them to lie still. Add to that Japanese weirdness. |

Looks like next episode we'll finally get to learn the history and meaning behind Pumpkin Scissors. I'm looking forward to that.
I have to say, the last couple of episodes haven't kept up my high regard of this series. They weren't bad, particularly, (apart from the snowboarding soldiers, perhaps... ) but they were slightly lacking in interest or excitement. Hopefully the next ep will get the series back on track. |

i love the first 3 ep but then it started to go down hill from there. i wanted to know more about Randel (the big guy with the scar on his face) background in the war. _________________ "what does freedom taste like?? it taste like 100 percent bald eagle"

I know I'm probably alone in wishing this, but I'm rather hoping our friendly corporal somehow hooks up with the LT. I know, I know I'm a hopeless romantic. Even in action oriented shows, of which this is defintely not one, I end up hoping that the characters will somehow get together.
He's a big dumb ox, who is nigh on unkillable, and she is a cute fireball who happens to be from a royal family. I know there isn't any real chance of that happening, but just think it would be kind of cool if it did. Ah well.
Besides, I'm thinking the real fiance has got to be a bad guy.
On an unrelated note. While I don't want to be too critical of a show so early in its run. It seems like there have been an awful lot of episodes that feel like fillers.
Episode 12
What is the big deal on this manuscript? They have to have it, they have to get it back. Why not just make a few dozen copies of the dang thing, and bam no more problems.
Also, talk about pathtic fighting. My gosh. Theyre all just standing around, instead of fighting together. And their attacker, he has to have been part of the Invisible 9, what with his amazing acrobatic tricks.

Seems like this anime doesn't really want to focus too much on the fighting. Actually, I thought that this episode's fight was better than the several tank fights we've seen, but that's still not saying much. There's pleny of fighting animes out there so I'm fine with a few that focus on the drama more.
about the fillers, i think the writers of this anime are really more interested a variety of short stories rather than a long drawn out plot; which can be a good thing. Their are tons of really good TV shows, anime or other, that aren't driven by any underlying plot. It's a lot easier to write the episodes this way anyway.
Take pumkin scissors for example, say the writers came up with a good plot but it turns out that it was only about 6 episodes worth of content. Rather than trying to make the story longer, they can make it more meaningful by getting the audience attatched to the different characters. So we've had filler episodes that focus on the character development of the luetenent, corporal, machs, and oreldo. The chief and the other girl have mostly taken the back seat so far, but I wouldn't be surprised if we saw episodes that focused on them more. There have been 12 episodes so far but probably only a couple that directly deal with the original supposed 6 episodes worth of content that inspired the anime.
anyway, I must be bored cause I'm rambling on and on, but what I mean to say is that most good plots really aren't very long at all. Even the longest animes out there usually end up having really short plot outlines. In the case of Bleach or Naruto, their high episode counts don't really mean an indepth and long plot, it just means there are a ton of fight scenes that draw it out.
I'm fairly happy with the filler episodes in PS because most of them have been decently written and their humanitarian themes are somewhat interesting if not moving. At least the writers are tying to make a point other than, 'look at all these cool fighting moves we thought up!' |

Did anyone else think that the beginning of ep 14 was a bit... fierce for this anime? So far, they've avoided graphic depiction of death in this series, but
showing two people being burnt alive... well, they didn't beat around the bush at all. I was actually quite shocked by the relative change in mood. Perhaps this is the beginning of a much darker direction for Pumpkin Scissors.
I'm not complaining at all, I'm just highlighting the change in intensity. |

Actually yes, I was a bit surprised by how it began. Certainly I didn't expect them to get killed like that.
Am a bit surprised that flame guy is around after 15th too. I rather expected him to be killed of in the 15th episode. At least the drug runner guy is obviously going to die in 16th, possibly being killed by his own people.

| The LT and the Big guy are pretty much the same as they've always been. If you didn't like it since episode 8 I doubt you would like it any better now. |
