Posted: Wed Oct 25, 2006 4:03 pm Post subject: question for dl's
I use bitcomet andi have a 2mbit connection.
But when i dl with bitcomet the speed rarely reach the limit of 220 kbs.
Usually is between 20-30kbs.
Shall i have the connection with leachers/seeders to automatic(it connectes me with 50 peers) or shall i have it to manual?Like to connect with 60 or over peers?
Also, is it possible to have two clients without them having conflicts with each other, like only running one at a time? Don't want to have to uninstal Azureus, just incase I don't like MicroTorrent.
There'll be conflict if both are the default applications for your torrents. If only one of the clients is the default torrent client, then you'd be fine. It's going to be a bit messy though, from my experience. It's better to stick with one. Well... having the latest Opera, I would have two different bit torrent clients since Opera has a built-in one which I've disabled.

Depends on the swarm. If it's a small swarm, then it's normal to get low speeds. If it's huge and you're still getting slow speed, then you may have a problem. Factors I could think of:
1) firewall
2) slow cap of upload speed. If you won't be sharing much, then you wont' be getting as fast.
And to answer your question, you can go ahead and try. Your upload stream would be divided up more, though. Which means, that people connected to you won't be getting as much data as they could have been from being connected to another peer with much faster speed. Also, having more connections could also choke your router if you're connected to one.

I have recently set up my router to allow an unabstucted port and set the port # manually to my firewall and to my torrent client. The advantage to this is all my torrents will use this unblocked port which means I can access my maximum bandwidth so now Zone Alarm and my Router don't slow down my torrents at all and since I'm using a buisness connection the sky is the limit.
