ok...i know i will get really obvious answers since most if not all of us here are hooked on animes, but i just wanna see if anyone would go to the extent of taking their kids to shop for animes and mangas, bringing them to anime conventions, roadshows, or watever u call that and getting an external hard-disk or computer purely for anime.
i know i would do that, could be great bonding times since we share the same interests, but sadly im only 16 |

yo dude me too! TEENAGERS UNITE!!!
anyway yeah i wouldn't mind doing that as long as my kids dont get too obsessed with it and let their grades drop. And ur right it is a good bonding experience and i would love to do that partly cause i barely bond with my parents anymore and i kinda miss that. though i wouldnt go as far as a seperate hard drive or comp but ya i'll let them experience anime, but i dont really want them to be watching any anime that's not suited for their age... _________________ ALL HAIL LELOUCH

| Sure why not but not too obcessed, I don't want them to think they are in an imaginary world and forgot about other stuffs. Anime can wash my brain sometimes so it will maybe happened to my kids if I ever have one... but im still young... Im a teenager and still at school... |

anime conventions and buying manga/anime stuff for your kid. I say why not? Star Trek and Star wars geeks are worse though, and we know most of the people in the star trek conventions already have kids. And they also must share the fandom with their kids as well...
Animes are catered to all ages anyway, unlike in the cartoons in the old times.
If you actually tried to go with your child in that level on fandom with the early cartoons, I dont know what I will think of you right now... >.<

i don't see anything wrong with encouraging my kids into anime... as long as its done in moderation and not to the point of obsession that is considered unhealthy...
since i also share an interest in anime if my child is inclined to it as well then it is a good point of bonding...
i deem it as educational as well... knowing another nations culture and to some extent their language.. _________________

I'll never let my children watch those pervert animes no matter what.
I dont want my son to become an anime lover..
nor i want my daughter to watch those shounen-ai animes and become a shounen-ai lover just like me.
The greater example is ME ................................ Im sick.

If my kids (don't have any, only 18 ) were into that kind of stuff, then why wouldn't I want to get involved with them, since it would be a good way for parent and child to spend time with each other. If they weren't into anime/manga, then I wouldn't push it on them, and I'd find some other way to bond with them. _________________ [IMG:500:100:5f9d323c6a]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v439/spender/Witchbladebanner3.jpg[/img:5f9d323c6a]

Well Sure why not?
However I wouldn't want my Kids to watch some anime that doesn't suit their age behind my back. Watching anime with family is a nice thing, I recall the good old days when I watch Initial D with my entire family.
However I wouldn't want my children to be too obsess with anime and neglected realities and become an Anti-Social fella which is a main problem in Japan right now with most Otaku becomes Anti-Social and lock themselves in their own world.
Hentai? Erm... mayb when they're a older perhaps... _________________ [img:800:198:5c85a10b1b]http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/1347/feenasighk3.jpg[/img:5c85a10b1b] |

hmmmm...
I would not mind if my child is watching anime as long as they can be able to control it and not let it be a priority replacing studying.

| Yeah sur why not I started reading manga when I was 8( 19 now) , don't really know when I started watching anime because back then I didnt even know what anime was. Anyway I'll probly won't mind about them watching/reading but with moderation, they'll need to read novel and watch other thing than cartoon or anime but more importently kids should go play outside socialization is just too important at that age probly wont let them have a computer anyway... anyway if those kids put dirt on my precious collection I'LL KILL THEM those filthy ?%&*?&@.... I guess i'm just not ready to have kids... |

Let my kids watch anime? you mean like this whole animated porn thing? god no! their little impressionable minds....!
J/K. I don't know if I'd encourage it, but I certainly wouldn't discourage it. If it catches the kid's eye good, and if it doeasn't... too bad. Not everything is for everyone, and I'd rather let him/her find out the stuff he/she likes alone. sure I could (read:will) guide the steps toward anime, but wheteher or not to actually get into it is not up to me.
But if there is interest, there will have to be moderation! _________________

in my situation, it would really be up to the kid, and I only say that since my girlfriend is not an anime fan. I'm 25 and will probably be married and having kids soon, but since my anime fandom seems to be remaining quite steady, if not growing, then I'm sure I'll still be attending conventions and buying DVDs by the time my children are old enough to begin to take an interest in the medium.

ah yes, very good points. I would love to share some interests with my kids and obviously I'd want it to be something I enjoy. I want my children to have a more global sense of their thinking and realize that the world is bigger than their neighborhood, town, state, country...
