The remake isn't done by Ken Akamatsu, they just use his character design which i think is a disgrace to him. There will be a manga version of Negima!? releasing in November but WHY would Ken Akamatsu fans read such a thing?
Negima Haru is a Spring OVA which is based on the manga, volume 7's trip to the Southern Islands. Since the animation is the done by the same studio doing Negima!?, i would just forget it.

Xeno, Himitsu is not a "He"
I reread xeno's post, and I think he was referring to Ken.
actually, I was referring to what Lucifer wrote above me. All you guys have Yuki avatars, I can't keep up, haha. I fixed my original post, sorry for the confusion. I wrote it literally as people were coming into the office for a shift change, so I didn't have time to check it.

and calm down, its a forum for info, and if someone thats not in the forums that much asks a simle question, u dont need to go all crazy, i did read the forum and it WASNT clear...
but thanks
haha, dude, v-boi is a mod... so I think his frusteration comes from not getting enough sun (or is that something only admins suffer from?). Plus, he's seen it all, people ask the same questions over and over. No one is at fault, so it's not an issue, but it may be a hint as to why his head exploded. Poke him some more, he loves it. ^__^ _________________ GTX: Great Teacher Xeno... my daily blog about teaching in an elementary and middle school in Japan (see right-menu)

Wait a minute, I'm confused...
Never mind.
Thanks for the knowledge about the Haru OVA. It's a bit odd that they've done promos for it before the proper series has even started though...
lol, I felt like standing on the sidelines chanting 'Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!' earlier! It reminded me of my secondary school days. Of course, I'd always be disdainfully aloof when a playground fight broke out... Unless I was involved of course, in which case I'd be on the ground getting pummelled for using words like 'disdainfully aloof'!
Well. First Negima series was really good drawn. Negima!? now has got a little dissapointing drawing. I remember in first Negima Asuna got one eye green and one blue but now she has got both blue. well. story starts also differently. He came before school starts and with Kamo-kun. Asuna don't see his magic as he save Nodoka-chan but to restore borken tooth I wonder if Negima!? will have more than one season or not. In first Negima they finish it really quick and with no chance to have another season. Anyway I'm fan of Negima manga so i'll watch this anime as well. Hope they won't dissapoint me as they did in first series (even ifdifferent people made it). And one more thing. I don't mind remake but really, drawing could be really better.
Before I say anything, let me just say, Himitsu, the original Negima had the same amount of characters. The thing about Negima is that they have a lot of characters and in the manga, Negima slowly gets to learn something about every single one of them.
As for the original manga, my all-time favorite and first manga I ever read. The original anime was too bright and colorful and childish for me. It was dumbed down to a certain extent and I was deeply dissappointed. Luckily, they changed the art mid-way through. The anime started to follow it's own original story apart from the manga just as the remake is doing now. So if you liked the original anime, then you shouldn't be so quick to jump on this one.
I had mixed feelings. I liked the artwork and all, except for the fact that they look too different. Still, it looked better than the first episodes of the original looked and I thank god for that. Now, my problem isn't that the story is completely different. I can't really explain but I just don't know. _________________

you guys are all being pretty anti-remake, haha. Usually I hate remakes with a passion (same as sequels), but after seeing episode 01 of this new season, I am quite impressed. You have to had seen the original season (or read the manga) to understand most of what happened because they fling about about 4 episodes-worth of information in about 20 minutes (mainly Evangeline, Setsuna, Sayo, and that white ferret thing). Well, seeing the first season probably isn't NECESSARY, but it would keep you from being totally overwhelmed ::looks at Himitsu::
I like the new style. It's very very serious. Barely any comedy and/or eechi so far. If you liked Tsukiyomi Moon Phase, the SoulTaker, Rozen Maiden or Gankutsuou, you may enjoy this. The character design is very reminiscent of last year's Kagihime Monogatari Eikyu Alice Rondo.
I'm working on the STUDD data right now. I got the first 9 important people up right now. I should have all 31 girls + Negi done within a couple hours.
PS... am I the only one who thinks Konaka is totally adorable in this version? ^__^ _________________ GTX: Great Teacher Xeno... my daily blog about teaching in an elementary and middle school in Japan (see right-menu)
i was hoping for a second season rather then a remake. the first season was good but it could have been longer.i woudint mind a remake but i have the first ep of the remake and im going to give it a chance but i prefer the art in the first season and i dont like the idea of less fanservice but that's just me.
as for what i would like to know is:
for the haru ova it looks like its related to the first season and it looks good.i know its some kind of special but i have 2 questions on it.
1. is it just one ep?
2. does the time line take place after the first season ended or some where in the midle?(cause someone said its a thing takin from manga 7 or something)
and i also have a seperate question: does the manga for the original series end differently then the anime.
i hope someone answers this pls i would really appreaciate it cause i dont feel like writing this all over again. thank you.
In first Negima they finish it really quick and with no chance to have another season.
You're the second person to say that. I didn't think it ended THAT quickly. And why wouldn't there have been any chance of a second series?
So how would you start new season? in the end Asuna had to have help from everyone in her class and Negi had to use his magic and this means everygirl know about him as mage. One more thing is that he made contract with everygirl in his class.
the other thing is that they use time travell in order to save Asuna and they explain Asuna's ability to neutralize any magic.
Yes there is way to continue but it's not easy. they show Negi's secret very fast to the rest of class in the end. (could it solved memory erasing magic?) and I really missed tournament part like in manga. Anyway it was very interesting but for possibilities for anime they could make from manga was series short.
Sure Negima!? will be funny anime and I don't mind if it is remake but I really was waiting for second series then for remake. (wondering how they would start in first ep for Negi and rest of his class in second season)
I've only seen the first 6 eps of the original and I've watched the first ep of the remake. From what I can tell, this remake is aimed towards modern viewers who still haven't seen the original. I noticed the graphics are wayyy better than the original (more deeper and different colors and anti-aliased) and the voices are made way much cuter. Well, probably not for the female characters, but the voice acting is definitely way cuter on Negima.
It also looks like they're not only trying to aim it towards the people who still haven't seen the original. They tried to cram in 6 eps of stories into one ep, moving some sections around, to show that it is not exactly the same thing as the original. I don't think they're trying to kill the original, but rather getting more audience or fans. I watched the remake of Kanon without seeing the original and I'm quite satisfied with how it turned out. I feel like I don't need to see the original. As for Mahou Sensei Negima, I'll continue to watch the original since I like the flow of that story better (less serious).

K, let's just get this straight. I'm NOT anti remake. Remakes are fine, though generally inferior to their originals. I just liked the original series enough to want that series to be extended. I don't think there were any problems with doing that (except, as you say DragonTiger, that the main mysteries were no longer mysteries - but then, what's wrong with creating new mysteries?). I'm sure I could come up with a decent enough opener for season two if I had enough time, but I'm busy with a fantasy trilogy at the moment...
thugangel, I'm not sure whether you're saying this is good or bad, but I DO have a problem with them remaking it simply to try and win more fans. If it's purely a marketing excercise to make more money/gain more fans, then the creativity of the project is bound to suffer. The makers won't be making what they think is good, rather they'll be making what they think we want to see, which inevitably leads to dumbing down and that's never a good thing.
For the moment though, that all goes by the board with Negima!?. It's too early to say whether the story, etc. will be rubbish. I was more upset by how bad it looked, than what they'd done to the story. So much of it was just depthless and ugly to look at. Like the classroom... Ugh!
Oh, and thugangel, are we not modern viewers if we've seen the original?
