Hmm... I meant to say the next-generation people. People who wants eye-candy. People who doesn't like Kemonozume graphical artwork and prefers the more modern fancy stuff. They surely did put a lot of fancy stuff on the remake... As compared to the original which the graphical artwork was plain.
you are right Melancoholic, everyone could do some mysterios so the original could have another season, but it's really hard if mystery is not mystery anymore I thought up that he made contract only with Asuna before he travel back so she would still be his partner. As for the rest they went back in time, made contract and after battle they mysteriously return to the party time. Asuna remembered everything from that time a change her future. for contracts they could be dispelled 'cause of time travel matter and Negi could easily erase their memory of him being mage after that final spell with world tree for remove curse. from that point there could be new adventures and we could see how Negi grew as a mage, girls become his partner one after another and their relationship with Negi. That would be for original.
Thing with remake. I don't mind style but I think they made Asuna's hair too long. I think it's good to see one anime in two styles. both are good. I wonder how much they change story from manga, adventures, funny situation and ecchiness.
First day, you are late, someone saw your magic, you got beaten up (Negi's blue eye and Kamo's broken tooth), crying and scared while cute girls watching you and some crazy vampire chick wants your blood and turn your piece life in to hell thanks to you father. pretty stressful for Negi-kun don't you think.

The only question I had for myself after watching the first episode was "Why bother?" A season 2 where the other left off would have been more interesting than this... meh. _________________ [IMG:119:90:283352dc7f]http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e36/Tank252ca/HoiHoiSanPointing.gif[/img:283352dc7f]Tank252ca

Negi don't pick up girls and stars working
and he didn't save any girls from certain doom. Not enough Nodoka so far, but a good amount of Konoka ^__^ _________________ GTX: Great Teacher Xeno... my daily blog about teaching in an elementary and middle school in Japan (see right-menu)
I watched the first season and read the manga. I'm entirely happy that the Festival Arc is finally going to make it's entrance in this remake. I was waiting for that, hahaha.
I've watched the 1st ep and the opening sequence of the ep 2, and I really like it. I'm not sure why you guys hate this remake so much...
Although there's the "Love it or Hate it" as written in an anime blog I've read somewhere.

Bad animation? I don't get it... Are you sure you guys watched the same Negima Remake as I did? Because this definitely has a DVD quality in it... or even better~
Now let's see Negima Season 1:

Now that's BAD Animation with a capital B.A.D. *nod nod*
So give Negima Remake a second chance... or else...

*evil glare* (sigh, even deadly glares are beautiful in this remake) _________________ EX-mod

great screenshots, Nekko. way to promote the series ^__^
I'm with you on this, I'm totally loving the new art style and definitely looking forward to how they will develop the story. Evangeline is definitely much more evil in this version. _________________ GTX: Great Teacher Xeno... my daily blog about teaching in an elementary and middle school in Japan (see right-menu)
I just feel so frustrated how everyone is bashing such a great and PROMISING series such as this one. They hate it, I adore it.
Do you know why they rushed the story? Because the first early parts were already shown before. And they're trying to show other than that.
They're rushing to show the Mahora Festival, the World Tree, the Tournament, the Library Labyrinth, everything you've missed in season 1. And everything you've loved in the manga.
So pretend this is season 2, and the first episodes were just recaps.

THE ECCHI SCENES ARE TRADED FOR MIND-BLOWING MAGICAL FIGHTING SCENES
So yeah~ Deal with it.
[img:320:240:0aadb38fdc]http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/288/negima2020032020large2004vj9.jpg[/img:0aadb38fdc]
At least appreciate cuteness and beauty when you see it. And I won't stop promoting this series till it gets the RESPECT it deserves.
The original's animation was done the lazy way. The most memorable error I noticed was when Negima first saved the library girl from hitting the ground, there were two magic staff appeared: one on the floor lying near the fallen girl and the other carried by Negima while Asuna was pulling him away. But just as you said, the animation was backed by ecchiness (with combination of the storyline) so people could care less.
I still feel that the first ep was done way too fanciful, though; and maybe that's why people were so "eww"ed by it along with the lack of ecchiness. The next following eps may be more discreet since the first one was an introduction. But I'm gonna hafta hold off the remake until I finish watching the original..

lol, i decided to give episode 2 a chance after reading all your posts but regretfully i still find it a disappointment.
I admit the remake is much more colorful compared to the original and the animation like buildings and magic casting are very well done. However, i just can't think the same about character design and their color settings.
Each person has his/her own drawing style but am i the only one who thinks several characters, for example Asuna and Iincho-san (Ayaka Yukihiro) are drawn and colored pretty badly? They changed Asuna's hair to Rapunzel's and made Ayaka into Goldilocks. Bold colors when applied at the correct object will make animation look better, otherwise it'd be a pain to look at.
I can't help but to think some conversations are childish and stupid. The fact that they are trying to make it funny is what amuses me because it isn't. What's with the nonsense written on the blackboard? And if they are going to use Akamatsu's characters, at least keep their personalities and features. Changing Asuna into a lazy bum is the total opposite of her in the original version.
The story feels kinda rushed but since it does not follow the manga, i can't say much about it unless i keep watching. It maybe a biased opinion but i still prefer the original version, even though it strayed from the manga half-way. I still hope to see an anime made out of the original manga one day.
Ahahaha, yes it is rushed out. Because as I've said, it feels as if they want to finish off and recap what the first season has already done. So just because it is different doesn't mean it's bad.
[img:173:279:8b2449b497]http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/1682/anime677ap6.jpg[/img:8b2449b497][img:170:285:8b2449b497]http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/7849/card01le3.gif[/img:8b2449b497]
They even changed the cards' designs (Disregard the red characters, it only says 'Sample')... Oh look! Same hair length... I wonder why~
Now I still don't get what you mean by 'painful' graphics. Because Asuna still looks great to me. Her hair as already long to begin with anyway~
[img:320:240:8b2449b497]http://img378.imageshack.us/img378/4786/negima2020022020large2023ay9.jpg[/img:8b2449b497]
Her long hair doesn't destroy anything about her. Other than emphasizing more her every move and whatnot. She's still Asuna.
The blackboard writings in itself is just something referenced from Pani Poni Dash, as I've read in some anime blog. Because SHAFT did both the animations on these ones.

"Aaaa~ Matte~" I think that's Chiyo~chan from Azumanga shown here... maybe.
Lots of hidden reference here folks... there was also Ken Akamatsu's A.I. Love You. _________________ EX-mod

I wish i could capture some screenshots but too bad i cleared my Recycle Bin. Instead, here are some from ep 3 found on sam.animeblogger.net
[img:150:100:7cf33d5fe6]http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/7360/15ha0.png[/img:7cf33d5fe6][img:150:100:7cf33d5fe6]http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/5999/13fu8.png[/img:7cf33d5fe6]
Am i'm seeing things or does Asuna's hair seem WAAAY longer in the 2nd screenshot? I don't mind her having a longer hair but a little consistency is all i ask.
I didn't say all characters look ugly, at least Nodoka still looks cute : )
The characters are now damn ugly, Ken Akamatsu can drawn better than this even while he's sleeping.
That was what fired me up when I read it.. LOL~ But yeah I calmed down after watching some PPD~
*hugs self*
[img:320:180:2c4808a4d4]http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/2656/0109fullic2.jpg[/img:2c4808a4d4]
Asuna is certainly still pretty and girly here. Though her tsundere-ness reigns above all.
At least in this remake the only concern with concistency is the hair. The first season's concern was the faces. Every frame shows a different person for a single character... If they didn't have the signature hair and voice I wouldn't have been able to recognize them~ Hahahaha~
Setsuna and Konoka on Season 1:
[img:320:240:2c4808a4d4]http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/6449/5bmedium5d5banimepaper5dwallpapersmahousenseinegimashel9.jpg[/img:2c4808a4d4]
If it wasn't for the hair... and the sword... definitely terrible.
Actually, I haven't watched eppy 3 yet. Still waiting for the subs. Just watched the 2nd last night... I love Makie so much now... "Baka Pi-"
Setsuna on Remake: *rawrrr*
[img:320:180:2c4808a4d4]http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/426/0108qb4.jpg[/img:2c4808a4d4]
Now that Eva's arc is done after episode 3... I can't wait for Konoka's and that exciting battle up ahead in Kyoto~
I love Makie and Setsuna too. Nodoka is really pretty as well. I wonder if they're gonna rush with the contracts this time around because he made a contract with almost all the girls in the 1st nime but in the manga he's taking it nice and slow. _________________

Poor Makie~chan... I think the animators are really bullying her.
But I think now they're giving Makie LOTS and LOTS of screentime. A definite PLUS for me!!
Go Makie~chan!! Don't mind don't mind! We still love you even if you are always cut off~
*hugs Makie~chan*
And I think they won't do the mistake season 1 did. Actually, if you think about it, this one might actually be more true to the manga than season 1. The first few eppies are rushed cause "same old same old" won't attract viewers anyway~
But after that... oh boy, after that, the story arcs will unfurl themselves to their full glory~ _________________ EX-mod
