the only thing that i dont like about the remake is the animation.it kinda ruins it for me.and the fact that it's suppose to be less ecchi, but thats kinda funny cause i dont remember the first being that ecchi in the first place.i remember wanting it to be more ecchi.lol(thats why the ova looks really ecchi and i cant wait to see it )
as for the rest it looks great so far cause Asuna's persanality is better then the first cause she is not as bitchy(so far).but as for other characters i would like it to stay the same as the first season.
Negima is an alternate retelling of the manga series Negima!: Magister Negi Magi
So yeah. Don't expect what shouldn't be expected in the first place.

Yes they are Nodoka in Season 1... I do not recognize her to be honest. I'm not even sure if these two are of the same character...
Just to be fair, here's their shoes in Negima's Remake:

Please choose again... wisely this time, ok?
EDIT: I just want to show how Nodoka really looks like.

So yeah. This is Nodoka. Those others are just zombie clones... whatever they are.
Just a piece of advice then: Please watch anime with your eyes open. Thank you. _________________ EX-mod
actualy i have the first season and u took bad shots(thats cheap).and sometimes in the remake u could see good animation but usualy it is very dark.look if u want to play it that way,i would use THIS to represent the animation in season 1.
after those who see this cant say it is bad animation.(in fact look at asuna's pic crying in ep 24 its at the same animation level as your nodoka pic)and for the record enyone could take bad shots of a series and say it is bad animation.
Hmm... A "bad animation" argument... It's a subject I wouldn't get into or shouldn't even be argued. Coz it's like saying all the current animes surpass my old beloved ones. And yet, we see a title like Kemonozume today which, in what I see with my own eyes, surpasses the animation quality of the original Mahou Sensei Negima. The only "bad animation" to me is the long filler saga after Naruto and Sasuke had their huge fight. I would like to call it the "rushed saga" because the company had to make up new stories on the fly while the task for the animation of those stories were given to a different animation team. Anyone who has seen the fillers would have to agree that that is "bad animation."
Things I would like to point out (and I'm not trying to side with meganekko, since heck, I also disagree that the original Negima was "bad animation"), Rick_battosai:
1) the screenshots you wanted to show are small. They have been resized to much smaller resolutions which would make the quality of the picture better. This technique is very well known in digital artistry.
2) I am currently watching the original episodes and the detail in the environment and in the characters are really lacking.
3) you guys are talking about animation here. As the definition of the word indicates, you're putting a visual image into motion. Screenshots doesn't really tell you much. Heck, screenshots can be manipulated. Screenshots are usually used to point out what's missing and what's been added or what's been changed. Or... to give preview to audience. What you're doing is battling screenshots vs. screenshots when the source is also different (different video file, different sizes, different filtering, different compression, etc.).
If you've seen Honey & Clover and the second season, there's a lot of very vivid artistry in that series. And a whole lot of it aren't being captured from the screenshots I have seen. The person has to actually see the animation itself to see what I have seen.

Something else that's been bugging me about this series is the way the characters seem to be constantly drawn using black marker pen. Sure, when they do close ups, the characters can be very beautiful and the outlining doesn't stick out at all then, but when they go to mid range and, in some cases, long range shots of the characters they can really look annoying! Especially because the backgrounds are done in a completely different way. The end result is that the characters look like they've just been stuck on the background and aren't a part of the world at all.
And I still can't get past that awful flat, garish classroom... It's like something out of a gameshow...
There's no denying that some of this anime does look stunning (the screenies that Meganekko has been posting shows that), but throw enough money at something (like they obviously have with this) and that's what you're going to get. I'm more annoyed at some of the art decisions that have been made (like Ayaka's hair having to go in front of those stupid yellow desks!) than the animation quality.
in reply to THUGANGEl.the screen shots are small but thats how they look on large too.they are not small to make it look better.
enyway i know we are talking about animation and screenshots mean nothing, thats exactly why i showed some screen shots to my argument cause i could do the same thing he did.i was just pointing out that hes reason for season 1 having bad animation cause of those shots were invalid.
and as for the remake it has good animation at times but most of the time its really dark colored and not as clear like the first season(the 1st might be a litle less detailed but i like it that way).i dont like the atmosphere of the remake as much but it doesint mean i hate the remake.
Okay, I guess I'm at fault. *sigh* I don't know what came over me~
Sorry for bashing the Season 1, that is not even the case here. Sure it is expected that since season 1 is older, the remake would have an advantage. And also for using the word 'animation', which is clearly not visible through just the screenshots.
I've watched season 1 too and I loved it. It made me cry even though the later episodes was just OMEGA wacky... I think you guys know what I mean.
LOVE IT OR HATE IT. I guess that is what it is now. I shouldn't force this new Negima on you guys... I can imagine what it must be like if you people suddenly forced me to watch Gundam... *shiver* (please don't)
But just don't be crying back once the Mahora Festival starts, I figure it will be GRAND. _________________ EX-mod
don't get me wrong.i'm not saying your wrong meganekko.it's just that i'm having a hard time with the remake cause of the style of the animation.im not saying that the original is better.its just that i like the style of the original.
i just want to make it clear that i think so far im liking the remake better as for story line and like i said before i like asuna's personality better in the remake.
i repeat.i have nothing against the remake.it's just that the style of animation is bugging me.but it doesint mean that it has worse quality than the original.

I've just watched the third episode. Have they really just had an entire year in three eps? What exactly is going on? Is this so called remake now going to continue from the year after the original series ended? Thereby taking certain things that happened in the original series (but not the first three episodes of this series) as read?
I'm confused and tired and bemused and a little peckish and confused. This series seems to be taking a lot of the things that happened in the original for granted (and expecting us to do so as well), but it's also changing things in various ways, like ditching things that were unnecessary to start off with (like the generic demon bad guys at the end of the original). It also seems like they'll be retelling certain sections of the original series (like the ghost girl). If they do this well, it's a very clever idea, but if they don't, it's just going to end up confusing most people. Did I mention I was confused?
Am I completely wrong about this? I can't quite be bothered to check up on all my information...
meganekko, it's not your fault at all. I can't hardly blame you at all. Honestly, I love the animation to the new anime waaay more than the lacklusting animation to the original. Not trying to start an argument but I know why you did it. People are being so negative towards the anime for the simple fact that it's a remake, and even though you don't want to say it, you don't even think the people judging it gave it a fair chance if they even bothered giving it one. I feel the same way about Magical Girl series and ecchi series.
Sometimes, people are so quick to point out every single problem to where it seems like they hate everything about it, just to do so. Just like these online rebels who point out Naruto fillers to give Bleach the leading titles.
The animation with the remake is so crystal clear and fluid. The characters actually make movement that doesn't look janky and the colors aren't all over the place. The original Naruto looked like a tv show in a rainbow. I remember spotting little bugs in the animation quite a lot and the only time the animators even tried was during close-ups or intimate moments. The background was simple squares if they even bothered making a background. It was painful for me to watch the original(I survived 5 episodes before I dropped it). Until I discovered that they redid the animation in the later episode, I started watching again. It still wasn't as beautiful as the manga but it was a BIG step from the first couple of episodes.
As for Negima!?, it's beautiful and easy to get into. It's colors are beautiful and the darkness mixed with the child-friendly theme(playing in a playground at night, for example) makes the series really easy to get into, even for adults. I can't blame you at all. Simple as it is, if you didn't have a problem watching the original, there shouldn't be any problem watching this. That's how you saw it and that's how I saw it. Of course, opinions are opinions and some people might've enjoyed the simplicity of the animation in the original and all the bright colors. I just know where you're coming from. _________________
Harvest Moon Anime, coming as soon as soon as someone realizes it'll be a good ass anime!
it comes down to two kinds of poeple.the people who like the bright and not color crazy animation(first season).and the colorful yet very dark animation(remake).
like you said you like the dark style.
all i was saying was that i didnt like that change.the whole "dark thing" isint working for me.and in my opinion didint go well with the series.
but some people find it appealing.
i guess its different strokes for different fokes.

Holy effing hell. You guys are still on this topic?
I thought you were all over this already....
If you keep this up, why don't you all make a thread on it then? Keep this thread devoted to the series, not to the difference between the old and new... _________________
