Well it's only been few episodes, it wouldn't be fair to talk about fan service not being there. In the manga, half the time, Asuna runs around without panties. I'd say wait for it, this series is designed to contain fan services. More fan services are sure to come.
if a series is going to be thick on fanservice, I think they wanna make that very apparent from the absolute beginning. Even though Ken Akamatsu's manga had ecchi on every other page, I think this second attempt at the anime rendition is going to be treated as a very serious anime.
Think Tsukiyomi Moon Phase: dark, deadly, mysterious... even though it had plenty of cute girls, there wasn't much ecchi at all, though it was certainly hinted at. _________________ GTX: Great Teacher Xeno... my daily blog about teaching in an elementary and middle school in Japan (see right-menu)

I wouldn't say this version of Negima is anymore serious than the last one. It may "seem" darker because of the way it's animated, but even during serious moments they try to throw in random and silly elements into it and break up the mood. For example, Evangeline being hit by shoe while trying to bite Negi.
About the fan service, after a closer inspection of the episodes, I did notice that it indeed ignores many of the fanservice opportunities that were presented. It really is odd that they would do that to a series that was essentially designed to be a fanservice factory.
Pani Poni Dash had its share of fanservices, but it's true Moonphase didn't. But really Moonphase did not require the industry standard fan services like upskirt shots or swimsuit scenes(I guess they could have inserted a school swimsuit shot though). It focused more on the "moe" aspect of Hazuki (or Haduki-tan as a common otaku would call it...).
The seriousness of the Moonphase's story is debatable. The last few episodes did seem pretty serious, but to me it seemed like a halfassed attempt at trying to pass itself as a serious story. I didn't buy that. The whole story itself was no more than a nuisance in the light of this series' most important element: the pure moeness of Hazuki.

If you're wondering where all the fanservice has gone in Negima!?, watch the Haru OVA. It's like all the fanservice they could have had in this series has been sucked out and then strung together to form a 25 minute episode. Seriously, there's almost no story to speak of and it's just shot after shot of ecchi madness! Not that I'm complaining, particularly...

i don't think there will be fanservice in the remake ever. It wasn't aired late at night like the regular series did, now its aired pretty early. This version is supposed to be a family friendly one. _________________ [img:250:112:a3991f200c]http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/3880/shufflesig1qq.jpg[/img:a3991f200c]

It has been subbed and you can find the torrent on this very site. Just search for "mahou sensei negima haru" and it's the very top torrent that's returned. Strangely, it doesn't seem to have a subbing group...
Thanks a lot Melancoholic, i do check that out everyday, and i must have seen that before, but I probably didnt download it because i didnt see the subbers and thought it was fake.

I downloaded it a while ago, but haven't gotten around to actually watching it.
hmmmm... a 25-minute fanservice package, you say? I'm guessing it'll be very much like the OVA supplements of Mahoromatic, Please! Teacher and Please! Twins, etc
anyway... in other news, my Spotlight Review for this series is done. I'll have it coded and published on the front page hopefully within the next 24 hours. _________________ GTX: Great Teacher Xeno... my daily blog about teaching in an elementary and middle school in Japan (see right-menu)

Did anyone else find it wierd, that this was released before Negima!? and in the same style, but here the students knew about the magic. Well i get it, might've been better if it was released after this series perhaps.
I originally thought it was a follow on from the first anime, but I've since watched it again (heh, heh) and I'm not sure anyone that shouldn't know about the magic actually does (ie everyone but Asuna, Set-chan and Konoka). It might just be that Haru isn't really tied to either series and is just a kind of standalone thing. With ecchi.

A note before I go on: I never took the time to watch the first Negima...
So I watch the first episode and they seem to have introduced upwards of 40+ characters in a half an hour span. My gosh! Oh, and one boy is teaching 35 girls? Yeah, harem all the way. Akamatsu has got his stamp all over this one.
Anyways, the baka rangers convinced me to give the series a try. It's getting late and .mkv files don't seem to agree with my computer. Consequently, I have to download the episodes all over again, this time in .avi formats. Curse you slow 900- processor!!!

yeah, it's overwhelming if you're new to the franchise. The other two installments kinda eased us into the cast, but this version kinda skips over that. They must be assuming that we're already familiar with everyone.
PS... it's 31 girls. Check out the STUDD data, they're all there... took me like 3 hours to do, but well worth it

they get more attention in the other versions... well, so far. I mean, they're all around in each episode (especially Makie, one of my fave characters), but they don't really get into the whole Baka Ranger thing. Hopefully that will change within the next few episodes. _________________ GTX: Great Teacher Xeno... my daily blog about teaching in an elementary and middle school in Japan (see right-menu)

Four episodes in and it's not that bad. Actually, it's kind of fun to watch. Please tell me Negi will have 31 provisional contracts by the time this is all over. =P
Nodoka FTW, by the way... (her and Asuna are the only two girls whom I remember by name anyways...)

I doubt it. In the first anime, most of the girls never even got a speaking role. Besides, I would rather see them focus on the cutest 5 or 6 than spread themselves thin.

agree, Nodoka is cute... although I have a soft spot for Konoka this time around. How can you not remember Yui or Makie? Even Fuuka and Fumika are quite memorable... but I suppose that's only if you saw the first anime and/or the manga, considering that they haven't done much this time around.

Yeah, also enjoying this series so far, but does anyone know why there hasnt been a release for a while?
well according to their website, http://mahora-academy.net/, they realize that they're not going to be up to speed during this release due to staff shortages. I wouldn't be surprised to see one of the other two teams, if not both, take the lead in releases soon. _________________ GTX: Great Teacher Xeno... my daily blog about teaching in an elementary and middle school in Japan (see right-menu)
