A-S's Red Garden Synopsis & Info.
I've been looking forward to this title for a while, not because I knew anything about the studio or the director or anything like that, just because I read the A-Source synopsis and found the idea interesting. So I downloaded the first ep. eagerly and... wasn't disappointed.
As first episodes go, this wasn't bad by any stretch of the imagination. The art is distinctive (it reminds me a lot of WHR), the characters are varied and distinct and the concept
(they're all dead!)
could be fascinating if developed well. One thing that did grate a little was when one of the main characters spontaneously burst into song... hmmm, didn't do it for me.
I'm hopeful that this will turn out to be an excellent anime though, admittedly, once some of the mysteries are answered, it could go in completely the other direction... For now, though, I'm going to keep track of this. |

Anyone else watching this? I'm not sure whether this is a good or bad anime. Bits of it are really interesting, bits are quite innovative. The story is also pretty good so far (there's not much else around like it). Unfortunately, the art isn't always that good and the direction is often inconsistent at best.
I'm liking the way the characters are portrayed as such realistic people, with realistic reactions to certain situations. The scripting usually helps in this as well. There are bits where conversation becomes confusing, just like in real life, when emotions are running high. Unfortunately, sometimes these scenes go on just a little too long and I end up feeling irritated and therefore detatched from their plight. There are also times when a scene is going really well and then it just trails off unexpectedly.
I think this might be a 'love it or hate it' anime once it's run it's course. At the moment, I seem to be loving it and hating it at the same time! If you want something that's not full of the anime cliches that other series suffer from, and you can get past the inconsistent directing, I'd recommend this anime as it is so far. It may not be great (yet?) but its a definite breath of fresh air compared to any of the other series coming out this season. Except maybe for Death Note... |

So far watched the first three episodes.
Interesting style of drawing... a little loose with the lips.
I like the story... VERY dark... This not an action movie... more of a horror story but it does it with a mature story.
This is an 8 so far in my book... potentially a 9... if the story continues.
I would recommend against watching this if you are under 15. The murder scenes are detailed and set up expertly.
This is perfect for those of you who like drama/horror combined into a good fantasy story.
Closest thing I have watched to it is Monster.... but monster was less fantasy. |

I'd say that was a little generous. It has a fair few problems, even if the underlying story is good. I'd say this was a seven, with the possibility of it going either way depending upon whether or not the story picks up or falls away.
What did you think of the random singing in episode one and two? I thought they were a bit out of place (though I liked them more when I listened to them again, just on their own). |

The singing crap needs to go away... that drops it in my eyes.. luckily for them they didnt sing that long. I am sure they will catch on.
The reason why I gave the anime an 8 and not a 7 is the effectiveness of the horror style they used. Episode 3 was impressive. |

I'd say she's pretty much dead. They had a funeral after all!
Unless they (whoever They are) somehow switched the body with some kind of ultra-realistic substitute and are keeping the REAL Lise somewhere and using her for whatever dark ends these people have dark end needs for... I think I'm looking too deeply into this... |

i'm still watching
she's gotta be dead, but the second question among so many others are still unanswered.
Who is this boyfriend? Why did they murder all of them? Why did they stop those people from giving lise a "borrowed life? why did they give those girls borrowed lives? are they going to have to fight an enemy with some sort of meaning? I'd really like to be thrown some kind of bone cause this show is still kinda good, but the viewer knows NOTHING

Am I the only one who found the random outbursts of song a little weird?
It totally ruined the show for me, though even thought I really wanted to like it I was having trouble anyway. |

| Yeah, as has already been said, the singing needs to go away. They must have had a reason to put it in, though. Then again, if you watch the entire episode and just skip the singing, the show doesn't suffer at all. Funny that. Good news is, there's no singing in episodes three and four. Hopefully that trend will continue. |

goddamnit I really need to find out how to play mkvs. Red Garden and Code Geass are only being released as mkv files *sigh*
I'm tired of the childishness found in most anime series. As far as I can tell from comments and the synopsis, Red Garden seems to offer the refreshing change I've been looking for. I am worried about this breaking out into a song thing though.
Stupid mkvs. |

Last two episodes (6,7) both had some singing in them but lasted 10 seconds. So it's sorta harmless.
Story is starting to unravel. I went ahead and wrote a review of the series so far. I gave it an 8. I am tired of the drama, that needs to be chopped off...instead insert more horror just like episode 2 and 3 that kicked butt.
Oh well..
I also finished the STUDD on the series.. so people can see some of the important characters. |

It's simple enough. I downloaded Zoom player and the combined community codec pack (cccp) and now whatever I play works absolutely fine... And if it doesn't, I just download and install the latest version of cccp and miraculously everything works again! mkv's are suddenly not a hassle for me.
Singing in ep 7 went on too long. Still, lots of new information, which is good. And, miracle of miracles,
Lise is still with us... Kind of. And there are definitely two factions now, with their own motivations. Looks like the girls are stuck in the middle.

Just started watching this, and am up to Episode 9. Just a few thoughts on the series so far.
Singing. WTH, seriously. Is fine to skip it, but man, having it in at all is irritating.
So the girls are "killed" by the "enemy" Their opponents recreate the girls giving them temporary bodies. However the temporary bodies are apparently what the "enemy" needs in order to keep going. One has to wonder, why create these temp bodies in the first place then? Why not simply allow them to be put back into their original bodies. And why do they have to fight all the time? Seriously, what is the point?
