A-S's Code Geass' Synopsis & Info.

Just saw the first episode and I found the anime to be really intriguing. With the opening sung by FLOW and the genre involving mechs, Code Geass gives me a nostalgic feeling of Eureka SeveN. The personality of the main character reminds me of the arrogance of the Prince of Tennis and the morality of Death Note.

This first ep is really... freaky, and I'd like to hear your thoughts about it!

Yay, the brits are bad guys! We do it so much better than anyone else. Razz

It's a little bit far fetched though, Britain (and the British nobility no less!) taking over the entire world! In reality, we're just a bit rubbish. Still, I suppose they have to get their bad guys from somewhere. Interestingly, I can't think of an anime where that little group of islands called Japan are the bad guys...

Good first episode, though. The bad guys are pretty typical 'nobility gone megalomaniac mental' types, but Lelouch (a strangely French name for a Brit!) looks like he'll become an interesting anti-hero kind of character. Apart from that, mechs, world domination, a grudge against the ruling class, it's all fairly standard. It looks really nice though. It's also a nice touch that they've named the different classes of mech after different British cities, just like we do in real life.

Thanks for putting me onto this, thugangel. I would have just dismissed it as another mech series, but now I know my home country is the major power (and that it's quite dark and has an interesting lead, of course) I'll have fun watching Lelouch tear apart the British Empire in a futuristic setting! Much more fun than reading our history books! Very Happy

Yeah, it's either the Germans or the U.S. Americans that are usually the bad guys. It's nice to be different and yet consistent. And I say consistent because Britain did become the most powerful empire around 1600s to 1700s. And they did have some very restrictful harsh laws. I haven't seen any religious references yet but will check it out on the next ep or the followings. Religion has played a big role in England.

I think Lelouch chose that name because he wouldn't wanna have an English name for he despises the Britannic Empire. And I also don't think that he's much of an "anti-hero" since, after all, will save Japan through his hatred. He truly fits to be the protagonist since to reach his goals, he's going to have to go through struggles.

Melancholic, I can't believe you're getting me to comment some in-depth stuff about this anime. Animes are fictional stories that I wanna watch for leisure. There are shows that are deep and worth writing about, and I guess this is one of them. But I don't wanna write! This mech anime is unique and shouldn't be disregard. Surely worth watching along with Innocent Venus than Super Robot Wars Original Gneration which also came out this year.

I wonder what his mech will look like. He was wearing some funky helmet during the opening.

Sorry, an' all. You DID say you wanted to know what we thought in your first post, though. And I meant to say that I would have dismissed it as another average mech series. There seem to be so many of them around and I can't be bothered with them all. You're right though, this one does seem to be pretty unique and interesting.

I enjoy looking at things in depth, it's part of what I do. I also enjoy discussing things in depth with other people, even anime. That's just the way I am. I wasn't attempting to start a massive debate, though. You can always ignore me, you know... Wink

Oh, and the anti-hero IS the protagonist. Just one that lacks certain heroic qualities. Lelouch is out for revenge, after all.

This is a CLAMP production, I think, so his mech should look pretty damn good whatever.

To bad this anime is totally ruined by Clamps Stick-man character designs. The characters have no visual volume to them since they look like glorfied stick-men figures. It does have a intersting idea.. Just ruined by bad char designs. Finished watchign ep 1, and Although the char design is horrid, I like how sadistic the main char is, Reminds me of Death Note.

Hmm....I enjoyed the first episode, definately going to keep watching this. ^_^

But I have just one question...

Suzaku got shot right, but is he dead? Because when looking at the opening song I see somebody who looks an awful lot like him.

Just a slightly confused about that....or maybe it's just all in my head. *shrug*

Yeah, I noticed that too.

I'm sure Suzuka will be back through some miracle or freak event. Either that or that captain guy was just a really, really, REALLY, bad shot.

I actually like the character designs, I think they suit the show. So what if they're sticky? It's just personal preference whether you like the style or not.

Agree... well if you would have watched xxxHolic then you'll think twice before you wanna look at the anime just because of the stick figures.

Well as the matter infact these Stick figures were ok in my taste. Well don't really care much of character design, as long as the story is good then it is good...

Code Geass is up on episode 3, and there certainly seems that there is fanservice in a 'serious' anime like this one too.

And yes, you're right...Suzaku survives...
Thanks to a pocket watch Lulu gave him. It supposedly stopped the bullet from inflicting a fatal wound on him.

Lulu is certainly turning into one of my favorite anti-heroes thus far, and episode 3 just simply removes the stupid 'godly' tag on a protagonist, unlike a certain someone in Gundam Seed Destiny. Razz
