Giving away my stuff

I have managed to shuffle up around 150 gigs of anime by digging through several hard drives. Some of my friends want me to put it on the web via ftp or something so they can download it from me. I have two questions.

1. Is it necessary? You don't need to tell me the name of any sites, but are there a lot of other sites that have direct downloading. I just don't want to waste my time and bandwith for nothing.

2. Does anyone have any knowledge or advice on HOW to make my stuff avalible via ftp or whatever. I am very expirienced in computers, but on this subject I have no knowledge.

If anyone could give me help, it would be very much appriciated.

Get a FTP server program and run it.

Thats pretty much it, password it if you want only your friends to download from it although it will probably be way faster if you just burn it.

While it's kind to offer you probably lack 2 things :

1. Huge bandwitdh
2. Unmetered connection

Of course, you could do it for the heck of it for 1 week... But beware of leechers. Anime-Source, with only manga, serves about 1.6 Tb of data monthly... That's a crazy lot.

If you want to host it elsewhere, it'S pretty rare to find server offering such bandwith for free...

Ahhh the old "Hotline" days Wink

That's where Anime-Source aka (CAAM) was founded.

The server bandwith is no problem. My school made me student server maintainer, and the school officials haven't checked out what I am doing ever. I will just use the schools server for a short period. It's one of those new blade ones so it should be fine.

lol well u can always jus pretend u had nothing to do with it but then again that doesnt always work.. doh

Okay, I have finally put all my stuff on one PC and plan on trying out hosting a server within the next couple weeks. Is there anyone who will voluteer to help test it out. I am looking for 3 people, as I don't want to flood it right when I put it up.
