Well, a joyous occassion in my MS Paint Adventures! I was just doodling with paint (procrastinating) and suddenly the idea kinda came to me: Why not use this pic I'm croping for no reason in a Wallpaper? Since pretty much the fanciest things I can do with Paint are Cropping, copying and pasting, I had always been hesitant to try, but this time I decided to see how far one can get with that. So as to not bore folks out of their minds with explanations, here is the result of my first large-scale experiment:
[IMG:150:128:b24be447c5]http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/3610/lelouchwllptxfj5.th.png[/img:b24be447c5]

It looks a bit too much like the background of the official website, which was the image I used originally. I wish I had been able to make it look a bit more different, but with only limited time and skill in my hands, this is the best I could slap together without previous planning. Thoughts?

For someone who hasn't seen that series before (and has never seen the original materials before), lemme be the first to say Great Jorb.

..Its still amazing how one can use MS Paint like that. *Gawking*

the best i could do with paint is not even close to what you can do with it... T__T

best i could come up with is this: [IMG:150:123:55324491e2]http://img120.imageshack.us/img120/1705/swirlgm5.th.jpg[/img:55324491e2]

Well, it's not really that difficult. More than anything, it is time-consuming.

Here is the image I started with:
[IMG:150:142:69110d4a59]http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/6413/sitebgjp6.th.jpg[/img:69110d4a59]
The background for the official website, not wide enough to fill my screen and has text that, with my craptastic software, I can't re-draw stuff on top. The answer: get rid of it.
Intermediate step:
[IMG:89:165:69110d4a59]http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/4272/lelwpit7.th.png[/img:69110d4a59]
Getting there is the biggest part of the job; the edges of the image have to be cleared pixel by pixel (and yet still the edges look somewhat jagged). Since I didn't want to blur them I had to make use of a dark background once again, something from the official site:
[IMG:90:165:69110d4a59]http://img362.imageshack.us/img362/2414/palebgom3.th.png[/img:69110d4a59]
For some stupid reason when I tried to put the first image on the second one it lost both color ond definition. I'm guessing some sort of transparency, which I haven't yet figured out well, much less mastered. To circumvent this problem I had to do it the other way around. Widen the space around the first one, put the second one there, and then put the first one on top. Aside from the nuisance factor, that wasn't too much of a pain (luckily).
The way I put the first image on top of the second one the edges got disguised, but not lost I was kinda getting bored, So I decided to wrap up quickly and not dwell on it. Combining the sky and the width of the second image made it all wide enough to fill the screen. I then copied the top of the second image and moved it down to take care of the height. Because it now wasn't wide enough I had to take the edges and flip them on both sides.
The title of the anime was in the upper right corner now, not a good position since it would get covered by icons. I flipped the top image over it and decided to add a new one elsewhere. I quickly took a screenshot of the title to use, since I liked the color as well:
[IMG:150:120:69110d4a59]http://img399.imageshack.us/img399/9078/titleqf2.th.jpg[/img:69110d4a59]
I shrunk it and cleared the edges to merge it better with the semi-transparent background behind. Since the bottom was already black I just filled any blanks down there with color, added a signature on the corner at a non-obtrusive spot and... Voila! I got myself a wallpaper.
