reality tv, eh? ok, I'm game
LIKE:
- Who Wants to be a Superhero? (I thought it was gonna be a huge gimmick, but they actually got down to the heart and soul of what it means to be a hero... I thought it was interesting and very tastefully done, I have a newfound respect for Stan Lee)*
- COPS (the original reality series!!)
- Firehouse USA: Boston (my occupation, my local city... sweet)
- Boston PD (I haven't seen it yet, but they filmed it right after I ended my internship with them, so I'm sure that I know some of the guys who will be on it)
- Airline (I like seeing customers in misery, haha. I felt bad for all the airline workers who had to suck up to these monsters)
- Worst Case Scenario (this show was interesting AND helpful... I mean, I could be attacked by a dozen alligators while riding on top of a runaway citybus going the wrong way on the highway at any moment... haha, well none of the challenges were THAT drastic)
HATE WITH A PASSION GREATER THAN MOUNT VESUVIUS:
- Growing Up Gotti (why the fork does A&E promote this trash!?!?! They are glamorizing a crime family... such a slap in the face to all the victims and their families)
- The Simple Life (Paris Hilton must die!!)
- The Anna Nicole Smith Show (oh god... who the hell finds her interesting!?!?!?!?)
- Gene Simmons' Family Jewels (is he so desperate for money that he needs to sell out... all so we can see him make fart jokes and visit his podatrist?)
- The Osbournes (not one of them have any talent... why should they have a tv show?)
- Temptation Island (way to take advantage of people's fragiles hearts and ruin so many potentially great marriages all for a quick buck, Fox. I wonder how many people killed themselves and/or their cheating spouses after getting home)
SPECIAL HONOR:
He Is My Master (ahh, a paradise full of sexy french anime maids.... wait... what? ... it's not real?....... what about Girls Bravo? no? ::cries::)
* an interesting story from one of the challenges of WWTBAS... one of the challenges for the four remaining contestants was to have a conversation with a prison inmate. But during the convo, they each had a task to complete... like 3 hugs, 3 hair touches, sitting on lap for 10 seconds... and... I forget the 4th. Anyway, 3 of them failed miserably because all they cared about was winning their objective, but the 4th guy actually had a touching conversation with the inmate as a fellow human being (cause when it comes down to that, we're all the same). He managed to actually learn about his inmate's life (well, the short version, haha) and got a genuine 3 hugs to complete his assigned task. That contestant ended up winning... he certainly deserved it.
ps... I moved this to the Entertainment Section _________________ GTX: Great Teacher Xeno... my daily blog about teaching in an elementary and middle school in Japan (see right-menu)

Like:
The Amazing Race--> Dunno why, but this show keeps me glued to the TV. One of the best reality shows out there.
Fear Factor--> Even though it is sometimes yuck. It is entertaining.
Hate: Pinoy Big Brother --> The Big Brother franchise here in the Philippines. What is so interesting watching people eat, bath, socialize in one house for 24
hours? This is the most non-sense reality show I've seen in my life. _________________

i haaaaaate Big Brother with my heart and soul. im generally not interest in reality shows, so i have never seen an episode of Simple Life, The Newly Weds or whatever these pathetic producers can come up with. (YES I AGREE PARIS HILTON SHOULD DIE XENO)
i dont mind The Amazing Race and Survivor. but i get uncomfortable with their sick stunts (like eating fish eyeball...or cows testicles...*vomit*) but i guess this is one of the reasons why they are 'popular'
i watch Idol every now and then for certain contestants.
Celebrity reality shows are over-rated, they should disappear before we all egg their houses. its shows like this brings Nikki Webster back, god forbid if i ever see her again, she can appear in mens magazines all she want. _________________ "Look at me, with my pretty bracelet and tiara... oops, I left out two "reality" shows that I actually enjoy... though they're more like unscripted/experimental documentaries:
Ghost Hunters - creepy stuff, and they're based out of Warwick RI which is like 10 miles from here
MythBusters - blowing stuff up rocks
I've come to the conclusion that anything with teenagers in it will make me want to kill my tv. That's right... I'm looking at you, My Super Sweet Sixteen. _________________ GTX: Great Teacher Xeno... my daily blog about teaching in an elementary and middle school in Japan (see right-menu)

Lets see, Big Brother should just keel over and die......
I'm a Celebrity, Get me Out of Here! is just pathetic.
X Factor and Pop Idol (same thing as Aus/American Idol) I only watch when they'r showing all those crappy/funny loser singers....
The Simple Life is....well, what can I say, it has Paris Hilton in it T_T
Celebrity Love Island, and Cast Aways are the same as any other reality tv show, except in the sun.
And, well, thers so many, Im not gonna bother, they all suck. Only one Iv ever watched an enjoyed was Beauty and the Geek (both the american and brit version)

Sorry to say that I just skimmed over everything before, and going over it a second time I finally noticed this.
I've always wanted to watch these shows but kind of forgot about them until now. Do they still come on?

Come to think of it, the reality shows I hate the most are usually celebrity centered. This be true.
But I still love Hogan Knows Best.

Like: I dunno if this is a reality show, but my favorite would be Survivor Man. Some Canadian guy going around remote places and trying to survive for several days and filming the process himself.
Hate: That Paris Hilton one... A Simple Life was it? I hate her so much. She has an intelligence comparable to a primitive tape worm.

Personally I think just the genre "reality TV" is an oxymoron in and of itself. But thats beside the point. Ever since the first wave of them came out, I have thought it was one of the worst things to defile my television screen. For the most part at the very least. However, there were a few exceptions to this rule, which were......
Fear Factor - It was hilarious to watch how low people would stoop to make a quick buck. Julie cant stand the eating gross stuff, but I find it to be HILARIOUS. Damn good hour of people doing stupid stuff for money.
The Mole - This was a very interesting spin on "reality" as it were. Putting people against each other to find out who the traitor among them was very intriguing. It got stupid after they introduced useless celebrities in the mix, but the first 2 seasons were great. I only wish it was still on. _________________ Miku Miku!!
