A-S's Soukou no Strain Synopsis & Info.
A very interesting flying mecha series. I wasn't expecting much from it when I started watching, but after only two episodes, mysteries abound! The characters are interesting as well. Not only that, but the lead, Sarah Werec, is cool. Determined without being annoying, but also surprisingly frail underneath her hard exterior. The characters aren't particularly anything we haven't seen before (speccy girl, techie kid, angry girl, genius cute girl, etc.) but they seem to be portrayed nicely, so far. Plus the mecha designs are unique and pretty. They kind of look like giant insects (insects like butterflies or moths, not like flies or ants).
Anyone else watched this? What do you think? I'd say it was more than decent enough to carry on watching. |

seems to be quite the interesting use of character refferences.. to those who've seen the classic animes by World Masterpiece Theatre, youll soon notice some very interesting things about this series..
its little princess sarah(Sarah Werec = Sarah Crewe by the 2nd ep) and little prince Cedie.. but it wasnt Cedric's show so he got cut.. my fav south park moment.. "Oh they killed Cedie!"

After the first ep, I realise one thing... OMG VANDREAD~!!
Well the cg done very well in the mech battle scenes and it does catch my attention. The first half of the story makes me think that this is going slow but the next thing I know "BANG" everything happens so fast and I'm already in ep2 but then again I thought I'm watching ep4 or 5.
Can't really say much just yet but the tragic lost of Sara does make me pity her to the bottom of my heart. Too bad the story is pretty much predictable in the 2 first ep though...
But yea, I'm really looking for the next episode...
Argh~!! Must Sara cut her hair??? >.<
Never expect Cedric to die in the very 1st ep which rises to the next question, who is the hero now?? And isn't that annoying BAMBEE pilot who was saved by Sara yet wanted to screw her up looks and sound a lot like that fella in E's Otherwise?

The first episode had me thinking: Are they going to pull a Tomino here? Yeesh...One episode, and three characters dead already.  I've a feeling there's more to meets the eye than Ralph being a traitor. For now, I'm following this one. Maybe two or three more episodes will confirm whether it's a good one or not, IMO.

watched the first ep and its got my attention. but this anime seems like its going to be one of those slowly subbed and released animes. i didn't even know that this show was out till i saw its name on the AS released list as ep 4. AS only has ep 1 and 4 now, had to do some searching to find ep 2 and 3. hopefully it will be released at a constant speed, i really hate having to wait 2-3+ weeks for 1 ep of a anime i'm watching which seems to happen more often now *cough inukami cough* and now the other animes i was watching that did come out in a timely fashion are coming out a couple days late ftl.  |

| So Sarah looks a lot like Marlene from BlueGender, same hair color and style and the face looks simular too. |

| I'm pretty curious about the truth behind Emily and Ralph by now ... Also, I wonder
how trainee soldiers could be so immature as to start bullying people. Yeesh. You're going into combat with these same people and they'll be holding firearms, people!
Finally, Melchesidec and Carmichael are just weird. They must've lived at sub-light speeds for ages to look that young, yet have such authority. Either that or they are amazing child geniuses. |

| almost all of the trainees we've seen look like they are under 18 so that wold explain why they might act like that. she could also want to be the alpha female since the other girls kind of follow her around. and to become the alpha female she would have to make others fear her. or she could just be a total bitch but shes dead now anyway so all is good. |

WInD are subbing it now (Shinsen started but haven't released for a while) so I'm expecting eps to come out fairly regularly from now on. They did a batch release for the first three eps, which I got from this site.

Unfortunately it's a problem inherent with most armed forces; if you're the kind of person that wants to hold and shoot firearms - at people, no less - (and lots of soldiers inevitably are) then the question has to be asked, should you be allowed to hold and shoot firearms? That's just the kind of people some soldiers are and the fact that these ones are trainees makes it all the more likely that antisocial behaviour will arise, because anything like that won't have been entirely trained out of them yet.
Not that I'm saying all soldiers are antisocial... So no snipers camped outside my house, please.

They have to just be geniuses. General relativity doesn't mean that travelling really fast slows down the ageing process. It slows down time, relative to other people. So these kids have had normal life spans, relative to themselves, it's just their 14(?) years of age corresponds to many more for people not travelling at the same speeds.
Unless of course, they are really old, and some other process is at work keeping them young (probably something chemical  ).
I'm liking this anime a lot. The general relativity sciencey bit is being handled pretty well so far, and the tension is being racked up every episode. Plus, the Strains are really pretty. And I think I fancy Sarah Werec... |

Is getting better and better, Starting to like the anime...
It seems like Emily has a twin sister but was wondering how come Emily is a doll while the others doesn't looks like one.
Well... can't wait to see the outcome.

I think she probably is, and
I think she was most likely what Ralph Werec was after when he attacked the ship.
I also have a sneaking suspicion that things might not be as clear cut as 'good' and 'bad' guys. You just have to ask why on earth Ralph would have switched sides... He seemed like a really good guy at the beginning. |
