// thinks up plausible explanation
Er, a female ninja's training would invariably include lessons involving infiltration and seduction, skills which Kiyoko is about to put to use. She is infiltrating a gala event where she must first establish contact with her quarry...
// methinks not a bad explanation!
And thnx! |

Yep. Here's the synopsis...
Osaka, Japan. Electronics goods here are cheap and plentiful, and foreign companies can conduct business shrouded in a secrecy misattributed to cultural and language barriers. It's exactly this kind of environment that the Dream Research Institute wants to capitalize on as it conducts research into the anomaly of lucid dreaming. Funded by a military research department, the ODRI hopes to understand how the disembodied, persistent consciousness of the lucid dream state operates and use that understanding to pilot a new generation of unmanned vehicles.
Having put in purchase orders for a variety of contraband technologies, the Osaka Dream Research Institute has begun to draw the suspicion of the Japanese government. Hoping to avoid an international incident, the government out-sources its' investigation. It turns to the same organization it has in centuries gone by, and with the same reluctance. Within a dojo remembered only to the surrounding mountains and pines, they find Kiyoko, who's training and concentration carry over into her ability to dream lucidly. She intends to investigate the ODRI by becoming a test subject.
BTW all, I've already registered the treatment as WGWa#1109915

Thnx! I like your Alphonse Elric cat render over at deviantart.com!
I use 3ds Max and render using Illustrate!. Most of the time I'll then import the renders into Flash MX to create simple effects and add text and then export the animation as a .avi.
In addition to Kiyoko, I've created, fully realized (mapped, skinned, and rigged), and animated 13 distinct character models for Dream Casters' Duel! Most of the characters can be found by surfing the Dream Casters' Duel! website, but I may post some more here later.
In order to further the DCD project, I must now recruit mappers and 2d artists...
edit :
It's not rotoscoped, it's rendered using Illustrate!. That particular animation is mocap, but I have plenty on the site that are not and I think ppl would be hard pressed to tell the difference!
I must say that I find modeling and animating for the purposes of rendering with the cell-shaded style to be much more difficult than creating and animating for use with a traditional renderer. Here are some thoughts on the subject...

Thnx again! |

what a great render engine, Illustrate that is. i sooooo want to have it.......but im poor TT_TT
i totally agree with your statments, is very hard to get a nice 2D appereance to a 3D model. the Ink n' Paint material in 3DSMax never worked 4 me
i personally rather to play a 3D realistic looking anime game (Kingdome Hearts, .hack// G.U., Saint Seiya: The Hades) than a 3D cell shaded, i dont mean they are bad, its just my point of view...........maybe because of the problems that there are with the cell-shaded renders, yeah.
dont think i can help ya with your project. i dont have enouch pacience to do the mapping, just when im in the mood to do it...........and my draw isnt that good n_nU
thnx 4 the compliment in my model
*bows*
keep on the good work, hope you can break that barrier of the cell-shaded games _________________

Well, there's a couple of ways you can get it for cheap or even free!
1. Enter a render worthy of their gallery and be awarded a copy (this is what I did, I entered an illustrate! vector rendered Flash animation and was awarded a copy)! http://www.davidgould.com/Illustrate/FreeCopy.htm
2. Qualify as an underpriveleged student. http://www.davidgould.com/Illustrate/Community.htm#SupportingStudents
3. Buy the student version at $99. http://www.davidgould.com/Illustrate/Products.htm#Ordering
David Gould is a nice guy!

I don't know about prefering to play a tradionally rendered anime game over the cell-shaded style, but at this point I'd certainly rather make a a tradionally rendered anime game, lol! I think if I had it to do over again, now knowing what was involved, I might opt to render everything tradionally.

not sure (as i said) if i could do the mapping.
one is my pacience, two is my time coz im bussy with another project (and now i have to win that free copy ), and three not that good at creating maps n_nU, sure ive learn some PS by doing avatars and signatures XD.
but hey!!! create an account at deviant, add me as a friend to have your link, or fav one of my works and i shall search for conceptists and mappers.................mappers is that the word??? xP _________________

I'll see you over at deviantart in a bit! Right now I have some DCD related stuff to attend to. BTW, just to clarify, I need mappers of the 3D variety, ppl who can work in UnRealEd... and I need 2D artists to create pictures of pre-existing original characters...
Good luck with the Illustrate! contest! |
