Apple Vid Game Console

What would you say if Apple (one who brought you MacBooks, G4/G5, iTV, MacMini, and your beloved iPods) joins the video game console war?

i don't think it would work they don't have any type of experience in video games but anything can happen

That would be something I would never have expected. I'd consider Apple to be the last company to make an attempt at game consoles... I mean, people buy mac when they don't plan on playing games.
But then again, when you think about it, Sony was completely inexperienced in games when they first released Playstation.

It would be a pretty tight squeeze to get in between the console competition today. It requires more than just sleek and sexy white plastic design to succeed in game console industry.

I don't exactly like apple too much, even if i do have an Ipod Video (i think theyre overrated, but hey i won mine in a contest) but i think I would be willing to give it a shot.... depending on the cost. I don't think they'd be able to get away with a $600 system when no one has any backround info on them and how good the games will be. And with todays gamers in order to get the respect they'd have to do something very strange, like the wii so they can sell cheap without it being crappy. I say there is close to no chance they would survie as a video game company. Though if they come out with their own "halo" they would have a shot

There's this just possibility that they could squeeze themselves through. I mean, people pay a lot for these accessories. When people talk about mp3 players, it's iPods. And since Microsoft entered the console realm, then Apple should be able to do it too. After all, Microsoft is trying to fight the iPods with what recently came out, Zune.

Though, I think the process is going to be really slow. Not only they're selling songs and videos, but I think they're already selling games on iTunes for iPods (correct me if I'm wrong. I don't know about this much yet. Though I've heard talks about games on iPods). And there are these talks about iPhones; a hybrid of an Apple cellphone and iPods. We won't be seeing the iPhones much until next year, but when games do come out for it, they'll be pretty much be in the handheld competition. They could then enter the home consoles generation. Or maybe even at the same time as it may also interest them to compete Sony and Microsoft in media centers.

They've been trying to encourage to get people to make games or port them for Macs. Though, I am still not seeing much of their success..

that'd be very interesting to see them do something like that, altho it can be risky, should they decide to take a bigger gamble than they can afford..

by the way, Halo (yes THAT Halo) was originally being made for mac before microsoft aquired bungie software.

What would I say?

I'd say it would cost like 5 jillion dollars like everything else made by apple. And they would have no decent games that aren't ports, just like their computers.

i read it way back somewhere at ign, before MS aquired bungie they(bungie) were big supporters of apple..
