wow! did you see the girl that got a whack on her right eye by her boyfriend while he was fighting a zelda boss, he thought that he blinded her at first..
it's not about week grips or broken straps, that thing can easily turn to a hazard.. |

I have read about the TV's destroyed by the Wii Controller.. Nintendo admitted that there might be a problem with the wrist strap. They also said that they are fixing the problem. _________________

| Yeah, Nintendo has actually updated the wrist strap so that it's thicker and stronger; it's 1 mm thick now, as opposed to the original .6 mm. They're putting the thicker strap on all new wiimotes, and supposedly you can request exchanging an old one for a new one via nintendo's website. |

| i just cant understand why someone would put that much force behind it ya know? the controller is already sensitive enough. i cant imagine it reacting well by going crazy with it. uve probably got major control/anger issues if u end up pitching ur controller.[/list] |

This a load of Sony Baloney.
Honestly, almost no CONFIRMED reports of this have actually been filed. Just fakers on the web saying crap like, man I just broke my tv. No kidding man.
The same thing happened before when a confirmed sony employee complained that when he opened his DS lite, the hinge exploded at him, due to "bad quality"
Did you people read the story one lady in the media said? She somehow swung it, broke the strap, let go of the nuchuck (she was using the nuchuck, I'm not even kidding) then let go of the wiimote as well, and she claimed it bounced of her coffee table too. Do you know how much goddam force that would take? Jesus she must be from DBZ of something.
The problem was so small that they could have fairly igrnored it since it effected les than .002 percent of users, but in true nintendo style offered a full recall. Not like sony when their systems started to catch fire. _________________ Official winner of the A-S Worst Thread Ever Award

| Technically, it's not exactly a "recall"; Nintendo are stressing that there's nothing defective concerning the wiimote provided that it's used sensibly. They probably just figured they'd avoid big legal messes and offer a strengthened strap. I won't bother with it, since I don't have seizures that cause me to flail my arms about while I play. |

"big legal messes"
It would be near impossible to sue them. _________________ Official winner of the A-S Worst Thread Ever Award

| Maybe so, but Nintendo's reputation could be damaged if they did nothing to alleviate the situation. Besides, people have sued on much more trivial charges. |

i wonder if nintendo will do a rebuttal to the charges laid against them saying.. "ITS YOU PEOPLE WHO ARE STUPIDLY INTO THE GAME!!"
in any case.. i think one of my brother's classmate got the wii and tried it out on their projection TV.. guess what... yep.... they now need a NEW proj TV and a new Wiimote as well.. _________________

technically, i think something like a class action lawsuit could be brought against nintendo, but they have their asses pretty much covered. the fact that they even included a strap and have extensive warnings everywhere to use it should be proof enough to free them of any charges levied against them.
my brother's friend left his wii at our house and i've been playing a lot of wii sports and that rayman game. sure, it gets hectic frequently, but not once has the wiimote ever come close to slipping out of my kung fu grip. _________________

yeah i saw those awhile ago.
i laughed. especially the one with the wiimote
that juts straight out of the tv =].
people get wayyy too into the games.
and frequently broken straps. those that have
contacted nintendo, they send u a new strap as
replacement, but now the question is...
will they send u a new tv? _________________ "The basis of optimism is sheer terror."

Yes indeed, since Nintendo has the best reputation of any game comapny. Up until about a year ago they still repaired Snes games. ANd the reason they can't be sued is all the disclaimers they put EVERWHERE.
You know sony's controller has a motion sensor too (though really crappy) so the same thing caould happen with theirs.
Nintendo is not going to replace the Tvs of anyone but the first two confirmed reports. The reason is that most of the reports are fake, fueled by Sony fanboys. Seriously, the pictures sent in look SO fake. Seriously, how could a controller be sticking halfway through a non-flat pannel TV. Most of this mess is just stupid internet gossip. _________________ Official winner of the A-S Worst Thread Ever Award

Actually, it couldn't, really; the SIXAXIS only has little accelerometers that detect the angle the controller is being held at. You only tilt it, so there's no throwing motion. |

I would still be more likely to throw it. But that would be because I would be pissed at it not working like th wiimote. _________________ Official winner of the A-S Worst Thread Ever Award

so they are replacing the straps? they shoud've thought of that earlier, too bad they wont replace any LCD TVs

nice!, nintendo should recomend that you work-out your grip to some extent before you try this "mote", and always be alert to objects/people in your surroundings, or they shoud just recomend kung fu AND meditation for wii users |
