Can't find this in the Anime Reviews section. But from what I've searched, the story takes place in the year 2035 when birthrates have dropped so much that high schools are being forced to close because of the decrease of students.

Horie Yui’s main character Manami (aka. Manabi) arrives at one particular high school and starts stirring things up. (from Random Curiosity)

looks really nice. basugasubakuhatsu anime blog covered the first episode with a lot of screenshots. the art looks to be of really high quality with a lot of gradiated shading. doesn't seem to be any subs out yet though.

EDIT 2: (no reply?) Just watched the first ep, and can hardly believe how cute it is! >.<

Yeah, it's almost impossibly cute, isn't it? The first two eps have been really good, though. The observation for the characters has been excellent for this type of anime, particularly for Manabi. Hopefully, the anime can couple that with nice stories and some good laughs. Looking promising for the moment, as long as you can endure the cutesy-ness.

I really don't like watching shows like these because they tend to be disturbing. I watched the first episode tho and it was a pretty show, not very interesting yet, but i liked the coloring they used. It was surprisingly low on the loli stuff except for the random swin team scene where manabi picks at ur swim suit. I jus find wen they use little girs like this in shows its just disgusting, but this 1 seemed pretty cute and inoffensive.

Ep 1 had me laughing so hard that it reminded me of School Rumble minus the romance.

Ep 2 had me thinking this is a good show. They kept the laughter coming and the characters are interesting though the Aikoh's Student Council President reminded me of a certain Student Council President from Mai-Hime. There is also one character that looks like a semi-chibi Natsuki, lol with an atitude to match.

Ep 3: Wow! Great! The laughter continues! Bring it on! I want episode 4!

I saw no hint of a decreasing birthrate...did I miss that dialog somewhere? Meh, doesn't matter.

Episode 7 is damn near a classic in my eyes. It really has everything you could want from this type of anime: brilliantly timed and off-the-wall comedy, mysterious goings on, feel good factor, wistful moments, the beginnings of strife to come, even some arty scenes which were done really nicely, imo. I understand some people's difficulty with watching anime of this type, but this is just so good in spite of the loli-ness.

All the little details that go into Manabi Straight, the way everything's been thought about so thoroughly, hell, even the catchy clapping bits in the BGMs... well, can you tell that I think this is one of the best series of the new season so far?

Yep, very good series. It never quite returned to the peak that was episode seven, and the school fair was a bit of a let down, but otherwise it was a very nicely realised show.

I couldn't believe they were all about sixteen though...
