Looks like it'll be a handy gadget to have around.
It's a iPod + video player + phone + camera + OS X + web browser.
It almost sounds too good to be true for such small device to contain so much functionality.
However...

The specs... 4GB or 8GB??? 16 hours for listening to music, and 5 hours for talking, video, web browsing??? and the official estimate for battery life is often grossly overestimated... make that 3 or less hours of using it as phone, video player, web browser.
I just cannot carry around something that only has 4 or 8 GB of flash memory storage, that is not merely large enough to replace my 60 GB video iPod.
The concept of having such multi functional phone is attractive idea, however, I don't think having such tiny storage capacity and battery life would allow me to use it as anything other than a phone. This is the first generation of iPhone, so I shouldn't expect it to be perfect. I'll give it 2 or 3 years and see if they come up with better device. For now, this kind of device will be for people with money to burn who loves a expansive phone for bragging rights.

there were like a dozen other things... I'm sure if you go to Apple's website, you can see the full list ^____^
seriously though... I don't like the idea because if it breaks, you're out all those things. Plus we all know how technology is... by the time you get it out of the box, it'll be obsolete
also, I don't know if any of you have had to get an iPod fixed before, but the repairs cost more than the device itself... another reason why I'm not interested

I had mine break because I used it during rain outside. The pocket was flooded with water and ipod just drowned. I sent it back to Apple, they sent me a new one. I don't know what kind of places fixes your iPod for you, but as long as you have Apple warranty, it's not gonna be a issue.

| The iPhone costs too much. I'd just pay somewhere near $350 for it, just because the 80GB iPod Video costs that much. |

it look so damn sexy i want to marry it.
it maybe better than the sidekick 3.
and the web browser is the best i have seen for a mobile devices that not a laptop

The web browser and OS X is what I like about it the most. Also the easy touch screen interface is a nice touch too.
But the battery life and memory capacity is just not enough to realistically make use of all those nice features on it.
I guess if you carried a power adapter around, you could use it like a laptop I guess. But you'll be stuck to a wall all the time.
I advice is, wait a few years until they bring out G2 or G3 of it. It wouldn't be a good idea to spend $600 on a phone that has such low capacity for memory and battery.

I don't own an iPod because I'm not a music fan... my friend had his break though after the warrantee ended and the bill was $175

Pretty sweet phone. The turn off is that you'll need to sign up on a two year contract. That contract is really strict and binding, and I'm sure more kick-ass phones are going to come out in that two year lapse.

Yeah, that was one of the things that I forgot to mention. The phone seems to be pretty nice at this time, but 2 years is a hell of a long time in tech world. I'm pretty sure something better and cheaper will come out within that 2 years, and you'll be stuck with an inferior phone that may have flaws you didn't know about.

im not really surprised or impressed by the iphone.. i mean yeah its good looking but...
japan has this do-everything-cellphones waaaaaay before the idea came into the minds of the western world...
as much as it is convenient its gonna be a big big hellish bother if it bugs down..

yeah what X said And Iphone cost to much money it cost like 500 to 800 something like that cuz u use it as a phone and a mp3 player and much more features
