You know what irks me about this anime? Its the fact that Chiaki smokes.
Now usually i don't care about characters smoking in anime, especially when the anime is the unrealistic sort. For instance, if a character is a badass butt kicker in some shounen anime, then i think it can add to the character because it kinda represents the badass "i don't care about anything including my health" attitude. But this anime is realistic and i get the feeling that the director chose Chiaki to be a smoker becuase he thinks smoking is "cool". I also realise that a main character in Honey and Clover also smokes ( forget his name)...
I'm an opionated person, and in my opinion smoking isnt cool
Ohwell, Nodame Cantabile is still great. |

Well I think in H&C it served a purpose beyond trying to look cool. It was Hanamoto-sensei that was always smoking, and IIRC Mayama also was shown smoking. Coincidentally, they were the two "mature" characters. The more childish characters, i.e. everyone else, did not, and I think it was put there in an attempt to highlight the contrast between the two sets of characters.
In Nodame, I think it's primarily intended to add a bit of realism down to earthiness, but it's not something I noticed like in H&C. |

| Hmmm, i guess its also important to note that in Japan (and sooo many other Asian coutries) there seems to be way more smokers. So maybe culturally, smoking is not as frowned upon compared to other countries where smoking is heavily regulated. |

I was gonna say something along that line too.
Yes, it's true. Asian cultures are still pretty open about smoking. I mean you can still buy cigarettes from vending machines in some places... any kid can walk over and buy one. Sure, they tell their kids that smoking is bad, but their governments never do anything about it.
Canada however is completely different story. Our government try their best to make our country hell for smokers. Welcome to smokers' hell. In my province, it's pretty much illegal to smoke in public areas (though people still do it). _________________ [IMG:258:200]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v435/ypark/sigs/3fsn.png[/img] |

Finally eppie 20~
Nodame never fails to make an impression ^.~ I really like how they pace Nodame, the story gets told not too fast, not too slow.
And that new violin guy is funny. Love the scene where Kiyora was running around looking for Masumi-chan, and when Kiyora's teacher was practising with the Rising Star Orchestra

LOL, I'm starting to think that Hard-Gay is a suitable name for a group specialising in Nodame fansubs.
|

They are undoubtedly doing a good job, can't be faulted really. Their gay theme is merely amusing LOL.
I'm grateful that they are releasing Nodame episodes on a regular basis - probably my favourite anime this season. |

I'm not quite sure myself~ will have to go look it up. I suppose it just depends where the anime is up to in terms with the manga ... if there is plenty of manga material to work with, then a 2nd season is highly likely ... but then if it already has caught up with the manga not as likely >.< I haven't read the manga btw. _________________ Get ready to vote for who you think is the Sexiest Anime Character!! |

Was anyone else nervous for Nodame? This episode had me on the edge of my seat, hoping everything will go smoothly for her. Lol I think I had my fingers crossed at some point in the episode...
I was frustrated at that ringtone >.<

| I think it was a joke meant to tie in with the splash picture that was for once not homoerotic. |
