your never too old to watch movies or read books, hell there are men in there 50s playing video games, forms of entetainment shouldn't be associated to your age but to your preferences, i think this applies to anime and manga as well..
Age does not matter. Even you enjoy watching anime at the age of 60, you are not crazy. Not every anime are childish. Shows like Monster, Texhnolyze, Zipang et.c. are anime which are even more intelligent and much more substantial than most Hollywood movies or American TV shows out there. If it is not too old for a 60 years old guy to watch Titanic, then I see no reason why anyone who watches Berserk at the age of 65 should be deemed as crazy _________________ [IMG:205:157:4263622574]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v608/charn/suzumiya-ep04-02.gif[/img:4263622574]

I haven't gotten around to addressing this issue yet, so I suppose now I shall...
anime is a form of entertainment, and like all forms of entertainment, though it may have it's "target audience/demographic", it's not odd to see many extrapolations enjoying such and such hobby. Anime is no different, but to say "anime" or even "anime and manga" in such broad terms really paints too wide a brush-stroke.
As others have said, it's easy to find a lot of anime series that deal with adult themes. Once you pass 21, standards of targetted audiences really flatten out. I mean, you don't often (or ever) see something listed as 40+ or 65+. Things that apply or even interest adults usually apply to everyone classified as an adult.
So, no, I don't think it's weird to see older anime fans. I mean, attend a convention... you see plenty of 30+ people walking around. Plenty of senior citizens there as well. What would be weird... seeing an old woman dressed as Sailor Moon or some elderly guy dressed as Naruto.
enough rambling, not even sure if this makes sense. All in all... anime is for everyone. _________________ GTX: Great Teacher Xeno... my daily blog about teaching in an elementary and middle school in Japan (see right-menu)

i think its timeless..
but there would be like certain circumstances where it might get a little iffy...
this may not be anime but for the sake of an example.. my dad (50 yrs) ordered me to buy the book 1 of Avatar.. i got no qualms with it since it is a good show...
now if my dad were into lets say.... shuffle! then i would definitely raise an eyebrow to him...
i guess it has to fit the profile... _________________

But Shuffle was good! Favorite here.
Also, I dont think its really weird at all for ppl to be reading manga/watching anime at any age. It IS a form of entertainment, just as there are people playing World of warcraft at age 70, there are people watching/reading as well. I do feel really weird tho in the manga section of book stores tho. Its just kinda awkward. So i read a lot of scanlations instead. Can you really imagine yourself at the day before your X birthday saying "well, today is the last day Ill ever watch anime again because tomorrow is my X birthday. People will think Im weird if I do at my age." You cant just pull the cord. Your still going to watch it, simply because new stories will also come out the attract your attention. Even at my age, which is 18, and being a guy, I feel awkward letting people know I watch/read anime/manga.
I guess im a closet anime junkie
Let the old ones have their fun! What else is there to do when your 65+ except hang out. Seriously, im gonna have like 2 computers when im 65, one to watch anime and one to play world of warcraft so I can do both at the same time. _________________ I am the Owner of nowhere land

I don’t think there’s any age that one shouldn’t be into anime. I see myself watching anime well into my 50's and 60's. Both my parents (Who are pretty young to begin with) are into anime and have been for many years. My parents are solely responsible for at least 1/2 of the anime I have watched in my life time. When I fist got into anime there wasn’t huge sections at borders and best buy where you could go and get a ton of series there were only a few companies that sold anime. The first anime I can remember watching was "Fist of the North Star" I watched in at my cousins house when I was about 6 or 7. My parents got really into anime around 99 and since they have purchased well of 3000 worth of DVD’s. I remember when series like "Trigun" and "Rurouni Kenshin" were just coming out. I don’t think it’s weird for older people to be into anime because it’s just like any other form of entertainment. I do think it’s weird when middle aged people attend Anime Cons dressed as Sailor Moon and other anime characters, there may be a limit to how old you can be to cosplay but as far as enjoying a good anime I don’t see myself not liking anime ever.

Like some other allreally said .... there shouldnt be anything weird with other people watching anime.... you should never be too old to stop enjoying things .... 80+ people still have sex so why not anime.... ? The thing that it really weird it probly you.... you need to be more open man !
Anyway one can still have a pretty decent social, busness life and still watch anime....
yeah most of my friend's are 30+ and they love watching anime especially Bleach,so I guess I'll be into anime until the day I get retirement or maybe longer.
Well, I'm pretty old. All right,... ...I'm WICKED OLD! But there's lots of Anime that suits my tastes with interesting storylines, appealing artwork, enjoyable characters, cool action, and strong emotions.
I do know of a few adults (I used to deal comic books, gaming cards, and my "extra" Anime DVDs at conventions) who are "younger" in many ways, including some who enjoy Pokemon. No kidding. They seem kind of younger at mind and spirit. No harm done, I guess. To each their own.
But I'm actually glad this topic was brought up. Too much Anime portays KIDS in sexual situations. It seems sometimes that some folks in Japan think it's OK for adults to lust after underaged girls especially. I would think it best that younger people trust their gut feelings and be "creeped out" around these kinds of characters, and just stay clear of them.
Also, kind of on the flip side of the "dirty old man" types, I cringe when I see an underaged Anime-Source member talking about graphically violent or sexually explicit Anime. Some Anime is great for the younger crowd. Some is not. We're talking nightmare material with the violence, and confusion about the sexual stuff, especially if it's portayed in some shows that kids are supposed to be into sex.
