you're right, 50+. it's not weird in their 40's, maybe they want a sort of gift for their children. man, 50's just like an old hippie. |

I think that there is no limit to Otakuism(my word for otakus' lifestyle) and it shouldn't be creepy. And from my knowledge, most of the elderly people at cons are walking around trying to figure out what's going on while their child or grandchild tries to explain to them. I know that one from experience. On the cos-play issue, there shouldn't be an age limit on that either. The only limit that there should be is if you have the right body or clothes to play certain characters. I mean, let's face it. There are some people in their fifties who look like they are still in their thirties and below. Now some cases about being in the wrong body shape for certain characters can be a good thing. I mean, lets all look at Sailor Bubba. He's a fat and harry guy with a good sized beard that dresses up as Sailor Moon. If you did things kinda like him, it could get you as famous as him. I know that I fit most of his profile and was planning to go school as Higarashi Kagome from Inu Yasha as a joke. If you made it into a spoof and you let it be known, then it's okay. Like with Sailor Bubba, he was given the catch phrase, similar to that of Sailor Moon's, "In the name of booze, I'll punish you." He's just a typical guy that like to knock a few back and joke around. I'd like one guy to say that they don't like to joke around with some of their favorite animes. I mean, you could even get fame from a certain anime magazine called Anime Insider with its Fandimonium section that shows otaku doing crazy stuff or unique stuff to show their love of anime. It was there that gave me the Kagome idea because it said to do something like going to the prom dressed up as Ayanami Rei from Neon Genesis Evangelion. Other than what I said, there should be no limit because of the fact that I have seen elderly people at one of the local book stores looking at all the manga and holding a few that would be good for little kids like Ultra Maniac and Full Moon Sagahite(not sure if I got that last part right). _________________ [IMG:200:40:38fc208c84]http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b131/kawaiidemons/Sumthin%20Nier%20Graphics/Sigs/03922497.png[/img:38fc208c84] |

my opinion is that there's nothing wrong with old and mature people watching animes. I just sometime thinks that young kids especially ones below the age of let's say, 9, might be exposed to some arousing and displeasing stuff.
What I find weird is that infants and really OLD people watch anime. |

It would be kinda wierd to see a 80 year old man or women watch anime while in a retirement home.. _________________ [img:233:120:f2a749bf82]http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o294/Tears90/haruhi13019mv.gif[/img:f2a749bf82] |

I think if you reach the age of 80 years and above...
you can still watch anime with your grandchildren..it can douBle the fun and excitement when there are little ones around like you before...it doesn't sound creepy though... _________________ [IMG:500:175:100ce23377]http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u11/freezing_angel/streetsoulhihasra07.jpg[/img:100ce23377] |

age is of little relevance to watching anime...
your level of weirdness would come from your little quirks that is added up on top of you watching anime...
i don't think anything is wrong with an 80 year old guy watching anime... thats good in some ways cause i can connect with him in that regard.... but if on top of that he has this life size anime dolls and you dress them up, name them and greet them everytime you pass or generally treat them liek they're actually alive... i don't care what age group you are in.. that is weird... and creepy... _________________
