There doesn't seem to be a thread for this promising show (based on the first 2 episodes).
A little info from ANN Encyclopedia
Runs from 2006-11-11 to 2007-02-17
13 episodes
Apparently it's based on a manga called Tokyo Tribes which is why the anime is called Tokyo Tribe 2.
As far as I can tell so far, the story is set in modern-day Tokyo (duh...) where there is a war brewing between the gangs/tribes. The main characters are a guy named Kai who is a member of the Saru tribe and Mera the leader of the Wu-ronze tribe. This show oozes with hip-hop influences, from the "thick lips" style character design to the hip-hop soundtrack and doesn't pull any punches when it comes to violence and disturbing imagery...
in the very first episode, you actually see a young man being raped to death by a huge fat Yakuza guy... nightmarish images
Here's a description I took from an anime streaming site:
This is the other side of Tokyo, a Tokyo of a different color. There, various tribes are living. The SARU from Japan's Musashino, WU-RONZE of Bukuro, and HANDS of Shindyuku... Young men living in the city...the public of modern times builds a home out of corruption, these young men of the sordid side of life, a side called "reality," are depicted here!
I will be following this show with interest because
a) it's short and therefore could be sweet ^^
b) the OP is catchy as hell and there's already a whole bunch of tunes that have been on the show that I really wanna listen to properly
c) the story so far has some potential although it could end up being extremely cliche
Kai and Mera used to be best friends but they are now in opposing gangs and Mera seems to be ultra pissed with Kai (most likely cos of a woman...). Bros before Ho's man
Anyways I recommend this to people who wanna watch something a bit different. Tokyo Tribe 2 definitely qualifies as an 18+ show (you'll see why after the first ep...) so you kiddies stay away from it! So far none of the big fan-sub groups have picked this up (which is a shame). I'm following Kanjisub which seems to be doing a good job. _________________ [img:460:60:e14c938338]http://images.minitokyo.net:8001/sigs/kidder.gif[/img:e14c938338]
TT2 didn't really interest me all that much... Since whan have the Japanese looked so Black? Also, the story is, so far, very cliched.... "oh, my former best friend is now my worst enemy" I guess that anyone interested in gangs and whatnot could find it interesting, but it's really not my thing.
Also Kanjisub, being primaily an Italian group, is doing a respectable job with this series in english. Even though it is easy to spot the occasional error in their sub I think they're doing a solid effort.
And that guy who dies in the first episode... probably the worst death ever! _________________
