Probably because the poll already has as many options as it can handle. Other good entries would have been Fafners, those mass-produced robots of RahXephon (forgot their name) and the Knightmare Frames from Code Geass (the symulacrums from BALDR Force EXE don't count because they are virtual) _________________

As for the eva's and the N2 mines, I mean that the Eva can survive a N2 impact while those mobile armours can't while carrying a nuke (survival of the pilot; if AT field rendered). That is also to say that the EVA can't be destroyed in 1 hit like those mobile armours. The anime didn't make any sense...if the nukes were armed then if the unit is destroyed, shouldn't the shockwaves have been eough to set off the nuke? If that happened then any vessels within a 5 km radius get affected, if not from nuclear explosion but electromagnetic interference? Earth Alliance should have won, I didn't understand how they lost...
erm actually, I was wrong, the pilot was never given but the unit I'm refering to was the EVA 04 that had the malfunctioning S2 engine. and the kid toji was the one that got dismembered. Eva's don't work unless they're manned, and I'm not talking about the nuclear powered robot toy that went on a rampage, I'm talking about the one that blew up like 10 seconds after it was introduced.
also, in the beginning of the anime, the EVA 01 moved it's arm to protect Shinji proving that the EVA's can move even without power.
dodging a firefight for 5 minutes is a LONG time, fleeing is more the term. The opponent would have to dodge against an large barrage of weapons, as Eva's can have multiple weapons, including that of homing missles (refer to Auska battle, inside Geo city).
I'd think an arms slave would win hands down, considering that the lambda drive gives them almost absolute protection, similar to the aT fields of EVA's. Gundams (I'm assuming) should have about the same fuel capacity as a Arms Slave although the weapons available to a gundam is much more diverse (although it doesn't make sense how you can derive antimatter based weapons by drawing energy from a nuclear reactor...).

Well, regular fafners don't have that much going for them really, but they would probably make short work of Personal troopers (Gespensts at least) and grunt mobile suits, which are in the poll. They are pretty agile and can wield a variety of weapons such as swords, machineguns, knives and sniper rifles. All have limited flight capabilities, although the Mk VI and VII are well capable of long periods of flight and they can equip the Lindwurm flight unit/weapons patform which increases their offensive capabilities and operational range by quite a bit. The Mk V is equipped with a near-impervious shield (although it had few offensive capabilities). The tough ones would be the Mk Sein and Mk Nicht. If you haven't seen fafner, the reasons will be spoilers, so proceed at your own risk.
The Mk Sein can assimilate anything it touches, either destroying it or making it part of itself. It comes in handy because if it asymilates a weapon it can "supercharge" it and make it fire ridiculously powerful shots. It can also change the shape of part of its armor if necessary (think Ed's arm in FMA). The Mk Nicht can produce Festum "black orbs" (which can be used offensively or defensively to intercept shots). The black orbs can be blocked by some energy shields, although they will consume any matter they envelop, and they can be deployed behind the shield. Also, after, getting assymilated, the Mk Nicht gained regenerative capabilities.
As for the N2/ nuke argument: The mobile armor can just fly away...
Now, Eva 03 was Toji's and it obtained the s2 enjine because it merged with an angel by accident. Unit 04 blew up, so there is no way to say S2 engines are good or bad. And by automated mass produced evas I didn't mean that crappy-looking thrash heap. I meant the Evas of End of Evangelion.
Once more, i have expressed myself poorly. By "dodging" I didn"t mean "running away". the oponent would have to harrass the EVA to make sure it doesn't plug itself back in (turning tail would give the EVA plenty of time to do that, rendering the tactic useless).I t would have to dodge the eva's attacks for sure, but still mintain its attention and not allow it to recharge. yes, it can be tough, but an eva cannot Attack/defend/plug in all at the same time. _________________

of course my answer then being eva wins against the wing gundam.

why?
the others are just machines with pilots. just metal and wires with weapons. ai system, but at core, its just a machine and machine only.
however eva, is machine and human and pilot. machine being the modifications and enhancements made to the human or angel being that it encases. the pilot is there to synchronise with the unit and allow operating on a 1:1 scale. that being what the pilot sees, the eva sees, what the eva feels the pilot feels etc.
ever seen eva and they tell you 'if it comes from god, you cannot defeat it'? well has anything ever defeated eva 1?
no.
closest thing thats ever happened was when it got its arm blown off, but even then it was able to regenerate a new one.
on the other hand...wing gundam got destroyed, and it was supposedly the strongest gundam of that time.

manwithnoname, i respect ur decision in saying that u think the strike freedom ownz, but u have to realise in discussion threads like this, saying something is the best or ownz is fine.
but without evidence to justify why it ownz makes the argument in favor of those that have evidence.

Not really. Its like putting an ACE jet pilot in a WW2 warplane against a new recruit in a Jet fighter. The technical difference is too great.
I use that example from the Seed Forum when someone put Kira in the original GINN against the Strike Freedom.
Now theres too much Gundam VS. Eva.

ahh, thats good thinking. a tachikoma.
better still, those platform tower things from the 2004 appleseed movie.
if uve seen the movie, they were pretty well defensed and took a lot of firepower to bring one down.
actually, the best mecha in anime, is unicron from the transformers movie.
although transformers is american, the movie was produced in japan.
therefore in part making it anime i guess.
but no one can beat unicron, except the matrix of leadership.
and lets face it, how many people have one of them?

Don't forget about the VF-0, the advanced prototype of the VF-1.
One of the most realistic mecha that I think could be develop in the far future. It can tranform from Jet to robot to somewhat a jet/robot hybrid. Each mode for specific uses. Very fast and quite powerful.
But its engine overheats easily and consumes a lot of fuel. Its machine gun can easily be jammed by water. But it is a prototype and its cons is what makes it realistic. -___________- _________________
