Really depends on what kind of pet you want.

Cats are more independent and aloof. They come to play with you when they feel like it and can on the whole take care of themselves without you being there. Good for people work.

Dogs need company, they will follow you and require you to play with them, supervise them all the time (more like a child). Some people might like this loyalty aspect of having a pet at your side all the time.

Kittens and puppies are simply cuter versions of the above.. lol

I myself prefer dogs/puppies since they are more active (I can take walks with them (and attract lots of girls.. lol)).

It seems the deciding factor between kittens and puppies is their versatile use.

Puppies have the clear advantage of attracting girls for you can play with them a lot outside and attract lots of attention, as many have said. But kittens have the clear advantage of keeping girls.

One thing girls hate is having a boyfriend that gives more attention to his puppy/dog. When a girl moves in, it's pretty much a known rule that the dog has to go. Everybody loves being in the presence of a cute puppy but nobody likes to take care of it. So if you give your puppy to much attention, the girl will feel second priority and if you neglect your puppy, the girl will feel/think/know that the puppy was a ruse, or will just think "is that how he'll treat me?" It's a lose-lose situation.

Girls don't have a problem with sharing a home with a kitten/cat, for they can take care of themselves for the most part and thrive on your love, a chore that girls can handle, not necessarily the attention. Kittens won't get in your way, they'll make her want to stop by more often, and nobody can yell in the presense of a kitten.

Puppies are a good short term tool, Kittens are a good long term tool.

To answer the ORIGINAL question, which are cuter puppies or kittens- I think Kittens because felines can stay cute as adults whereas the window of cuteness oppurtunity in canines is very short. Puppies can become this in no time at all.

While you people are here discussing whether dogs or cats are cuter, the mice have taken over the world with their cuteness.

The reason I prefer kittens, they are more cunning and learn fast, and they can understand you when you talk to them, dogs will just tilt their head at you and those eyes say "huh?"
thought they are not as loyal, that makes them all the more human.
