Singing, Anyone?

Hello,

o_O I haven't seen posts of this type around Anime-Source. (tried searching for them as well and came up with zip)

Anyway, on to the topic.

I have a friend who records her voice over the instrumentals of the anime songs. And they can be found here:

I asked her if I could post her things on Anime-Source, and she said she didn't mind... ^_^ so that's good <_<. And Xeno said this was the right place to post >.> <.< (I was unsure since .. like I said before, I haven't found any posts about it...). I just found it interesting to share, since usually I see drawings / AMVs / stories only on these forums ^___^. Enjoy ^___^.

thats actually a very good idea...........but the problem is.........whos gonna be the brave to sing for the others members......is kinda embarassing n_nU

never the less i would like to try it........how am i supposed to do that??? make an mp3 of me singing with the background of an anime that is???

Well since it's <_< just for fun.. Nothing fancy, really.

You can use a computer / USB mic if you wish o_O.

You could get a free program like Audacity: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

or Goldwave

http://www.goldwave.com/

or something else like Cool Edit Pro or something.. <_<

In Audacity,

Go to Preferences and make sure this is on: (I have an older form than on the site so it might be a bit different)

<_< also if they still require you to get a LAME mp3 encoder... for exporting mp3s, then check the site for further info.

Then! T.T You load the instrumental file from your computer; for example:

Then you click record... <_< start hearing it... and when you hear it's at the right place, BAM start singing O_O <_< and if you need to redo.. either silence part of it (in the edit menu) or go click on your recording track, click project <_< then click remove track... <___<
You could sing for a bit, then stop <_< then click record again

And then add effect by selecting the part of your voice <__< and then... <__< using Gverb. But the reverb on Audacity isn't too good <_< unless you want to fiddle around with it a lot.

THen go to File and export as mp3.. then you're done <_<

This is the (mostly) faster / kinda more lazy way to do it XD :X

Or... D: there's the way my friend does it... which is to record the track SEPARATELY while listening to the music <_< then mix in the vocal track

I know that Goldwave uses this second method .. not too sure about other programs. <___<[/url]

EDIT: after listening to some songs, she's quite talented! and very cute :3 I especially like her soft voice in "Be For You Be For Me" and "Undine". And I especially like the fun-filled "Ichirin no Hana". Is it really the same person singing these songs? Such a variety in voicework :3

In response to Cherry-kun, Chikage pretty much covered it. Though, I don't use Audacity anymore. Oh, If you mess up in a song, another way to start over is to go to edit --> undo. XD I use Cool Edit for mixing, and like Chikage said, I use headphones to listen to the original or karaoke while singing along, and then mix it together, use dynamic processing, etc. The first song on here took me four hours to mix together. Mixing can be easy or hard, depending on how good you want it.

And yes, all of those songs on the link are sung by the same person, minus the ones that say "duet with--" or something of the like.

Wow, some of the songs are better than the originals.

Especially the azumanga daioh time pavement song. it turned from a childish squeeky thing into a laid back mellow lullaby.

Constructive criticisms:
Sometimes your friend doesn't put enough "soul" and passion into her voice. when she needs to.
She has the voice and everything, but she just needs to let all her emotion out into her singing.
Then, all of these songs would be more than perfect.

tell your friend to imagine that she has a hose attached directly to her soul, and each person in her audience has a funnel leading directly to their own hearts.
it is her job to pour out her entire soul into her audience- she must make the audience feel what she feels.

err.. yeah, she probably knows this stuff already cuz she probably took drama or something.

You could easily find the original God Knows on DJBouche or Gendou.

Also, don't be afraid to post your singing. Heck, you wouldn't want to hear me last year. Actually...I hate most of my songs right now....>>

I find it amusing that Be For You is liked -- especially since it's quite the opposite of my normal voice and I only attained that voice after much practice as an AVA.
