does anyone here have a job? full-time or part-time? How long have you been there? Pay well? Like it or hate it? Tell me!!!

Job 1:
- supermarket customer service (cashier, bagboy, cartboy, CSA)
- Sept 1996 to August 2000 (4 years)
- part-time/during high-school
- paid: crappy!
- I liked the people I worked with, the job itself wasn't bad, but it was very tedious

Job 2:
- bookstore (bookseller, cafe worker)
- Dec 2000 to April 2001
- part-time/during college
- paid: only decent
- I didn't really enjoy anything about it, it was a quiet place to work

Job 3:
- wholesale bulk club (cashier, loss prevention, gas station attendant)
- Sept 2001 to March 2005
- part-time then full-time/during college and internship
- paid: decent, got FT benefits
- I loved the people I worked with, still friends with many of them, the work was tedious, but fun

Job 4:
- fire department emergency dispatcher and 911-operator
- Sept 2005 to present
- full-time
- paid: pretty good, not great, awesome benefits since it's the govn't
- it's a good professional job, I love having the responsibility and since I get to help people, it makes it worthwhile. I also get to come home with interesting stories everyday and sometimes get put on the news

so yeah, I know we have a lot of students on this site, but I'm sure many of you work, so let's hear about it

- October 05 - Dec 06
- Part Time [6hrs a wk(?)]

thats right, i taught kids how to swim for peanuts.

its fun dealing with kids, but after 3 hrs of them, they
REALLY wear you out... mentally and physically

Job 1:

Paper Route or Paper Boy
Date: 2001?-2006
Pay: Monthly ... really sucks, don't even wanna say

Delivered on Wednesday, Fridays and Saturdays until 2005 where I only had to deliver on Wed and Friday.

The pay sucks. My first street had about 140 houses and was far from where I lived so had to get my mom to drive me there when she had the time. My 2nd street after the 1st one was closer where I could walk and delivered around 75 houses there. Much easier.

I don't like people that complain when I deliver late because it was raining or snowing like crazy the day before! I hate it when people put their dogs out knowing they actually bite. -_-

Benefits? There are none -_-

you must be pretty buffed up by now. I didn't mind my grocery store jobs cause it was like a free gym membership. Now all I do is sit at a computer, so I'm out of shape... blah

no pain, no gain... besides, the more you do it, the more you get used to it. I haven't done anything physical in a while... I got tired after sweeping for just 5 minutes... haha... ummm... I mean... I climbed up 3 mountains with 100 lbs of frozen lima beans strapped to my back with my arms tied to my legs and balancing a limosine on my head... and I didn't even break a sweat

no, nothing bad.. it's a video game called PaperBoy... you play as.... a paperboy and your goal is to throw newspapers in the mailbox as you ride down the street. Of course, you get points for breaking windows, knocking over trash cans and hitting people... ah, a classic... in fact, I played it at katsucon for a little while since they had a classic arcade room

well, I'd have to think back to my old boss because he was a real idiot... and when I say idiot... I mean, there is no one dumber than him on the whole planet. He always hated confrontation or commotion.. anytime things happened (like shoplifters or fires!!), he'd literally run the opposite direction. Anyway, his punishment would be A... then B... then D... then lock him in his car and perform E... then I'd do C as he suffered.... hahahaha

Hey jobs~ well everyone around here always sees me whining and complaing about going to work >.<

Job 1 (Early 2005 - April 2006)
- Golden Deer Take-Away
- part time/casual
- Worked at the cashier
- A little cleaning here and there
- and playing with the boss's kids Very Happy They were cute....tho sometimes can get out of hand.
- At first 8 bucks an hour, then slowly made it to 10 an hour. (no benifits)

It was really good pay for a 15 year old.

Job 2 (Sept 2005 - Present) OMF its my third year here >.<
- 'The land of grease and cholestorol' aka McDonald's
- part time/ casual
- check-out chick, getting trained to work out back
- currently $11.09 an hour, quite good pay IMO for Macca's Very Happy no benifits... get OT penalty's and laundry allowance
- get long tedious hours, stupid shifts (ones that either start at 11pm, or 4:30am), customers are a bitch.
- good lot of people to work with, managers are pretty cool, except for 2 >.>

Job 3 (Dec 2006...for about 4weeks)
- Asain Fast Food Take-away
- Casual
- worked at the cashier, a lil cleaning, bagging the prawn crackers and fried noodles Very Happy
- $12 an hour (best pay I've had)

It was a pretty cool place to work, coz I had mates working there, who like me was workign 2 jobs over the summer.

So yeah still stuck at macca's... the hours are relatively fexible ... I'm too lazy to go find another job, probably will stick around there for a little bit longer. And all the jobs I've had so far, I haven't really had problems with the higher-ups.

Xeno
that whole "don't work at ur favorite restaurant thing"...it so true --;;;
i used to ADORE in n out xD but now i rarely go cause the magics gone for me ;-;....its still good tho x)

and its not much about the dorks (tho there were some =D ) but in all honestly..i never imagined there to be so many ignorant people in this world..like once i had this women come up to me and say "do u guys worship the devil?...whay are the clothing so diabolic?..whats the purpse of all this?.." and yes she did ask them all at once -.-;;;; my first reaction was "uhh.." i couldn't respond right away xD haha cause i woulda regretted what i was gonna say Rolling Eyes
the worst and most hilarious was when these chicks came is and asked where all the "pink" stuff was..xD i guess they were expecting barbie or something...saddest part was that they were being serious o_O;;

and if u do do that...i can't promise u will leave in one piece..haha i've been told that my reflexes are dangerous XD so if u jump up at me..expect something to be coming towards ya Very Happy

strkie- If u want to go for the cheap approach...Egg his car Very Happy

why u still in the place??
because it pays pretty ok
