Is there something wrong with the file? I've already downloaded it via torrent (twice, in fact), and I still can't play it.

WMP plays choppy-audio-only, and VLC just can't play at all.

I have no problem playing the file if yours is also from Ayako. Maybe it is time that you may want to upgrade your codec.
