Belken Wireless internet troubles

my friend just got his internet up and he went and got a belken wireless router and a laptop belken card to go with it he installed the belken card following the directions and his adapter shows its getting Excellent signal but every time he goes to get on the internet it wont come up he asked me to try to fix it but im not all that knowlegable about wireless internet can someone help fix this

He can access and configure his wireless router, right? And this question may see ridiculous, but he does have cable or DSL modem with a working service, right?

If he can do all of the stuff mentioned, maybe he just needs to set his network configuration to automatically obtain IP and DNS address ( http://support.shaw.ca/troubleshooting/images/dhcpxp12.jpg ).

He has a working DSL connection that he pays for
im unsure about the configuration ill have to ask him >.< even beter im gonna have to look at the computer itself its not easy trying to get help with little knowledge
