Hehe due to a random Tornado that hit the previous class room i have to re-establish a new art room in here. (I took the expenses outa your A-S account!! hee hee ^^) Well since it's starting fresh again i might as well list the material required to attend this course. I'll list some art terms definitions too so other artists out there won't get you all confused and you can mock them back cause you know more!!!
Paper:
Practice paper of 80lb is prefered
There are about 3 main types of paper you got your 40lb, 80lb and on occasions, like really rare 120 lb
Art Term: lb is refer to paper weight, no it doesn't mean 80 pounds of paper.
40lb is good for smudge sketches and cheapess of them all
80lb is good for most sketches and fairly cheap
120lb is professional paper, unless you are really serious about drawing don't get this to use as practice paper
Pencils:
4B - 4H
Art Term: B is refer to as Bold and Blunt
H is refer to as soft and smooth lead
The higher grading of B the darker the line drawn, but the more white gaps in between because the lead is "flat"
Higher the H the softer the lines, and it's also smoother too.
Eraser:
Keep at least 1 of each kind on hand
Kneable and Standard White
Art Term:
Kneable is one of those rippable sticky erasers, great art piece are made from the sacrfice of these things!!
White Eraser is standard for erasing dark lines,
Kneable eraser are to be used for only 2 things, Shading and Line lighting, nothing more otherwise you will kill the eraser and have to go out and buy one.
Inking pens:
0.3, 0.5, 0.7
These are usually sold as a set, good to have the whole set on hand. If you can't afford it because of budget cost, pick up a 0.3 and 0.7 for standard useage. 0.3 will be used alot so you'll find yourself buying alot of replacement.
Extra Items:
(These aren't necessary, just good to have on hand)
Standard stationary you find you in your pencil Case
Ruler
Compass
Protractor
Calculator (you'll know why later on)
Before Class starts, as a reminder I assume everyone is serious about this, jokes are allowed in here but no SPAM or Flaming either. _________________ [IMG:400:150:03f161352f]http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/2235/kitaassignaturejz2.jpg[/img:03f161352f] |

Gomenai~ Mina x.x
i had to finish 3 projects in the last week and there were several other outside event i couldn't avoid. Gomenai
Anyways i'm back,
Long_Gun>> It's fine i'll copy and paste Stuff over if I need to, as far as opinions and suggestion go they cahnge over time so if the question would be ask I might need to update it anyways ^^
Doujo>> Yes anyone can be a student, it's not really a "class" we actually have fun here!!!
Du5k>> Hehe Gomenai~ you are still my first student.
Okay let's get this week Lesson Started!!! I'll keep an update list to refer to on the first post so we can keep this organized.
Lesson 1:
This week's lesson might be a little boring for the people that have already done a lot of drawing so if you could just bear with me.
Line Stroking.
This is basically done by practicing to use a single pencil. So take your pick, any will do fine. Basically all you have to do is draw several line, but practice drawing so that you get light, dark, light, dark.
It's a lot harder than it seems, but it will teach you how to bring things into persepective later on.
And we are done Lesson 1!!!! wasn't that simple!?!? The following is just a way to practice what you just learned.
Applying Line Stroking:
The most essential in art is the well..... the art itself. Concept-Idea this is often known in the engineering world. Before we jump the boat, we must first know what we want to do. Have you even noticed your artistic friends can magically produce amazing sketches out of no where?
If you want to be able to do this as well it's actually quite simple. Picture what you want to draw. You don't need the details just yet. Look around for ideas, maybe a car outside you would like to modify a stuff animal you want to make or maybe a patent you want to create.
Now that you know what you want to do, grab a HB and H2 sketching pencil and a couple sheets of paper. Naturally we would just sit there and randomly copy the lines of an object.
This time draw out each basic part by itself before assembling the picture. For example (although it might seem childish it will help in the long run) If you want to sketch a car. Draw a Rectangle, add your little circles for wheels. Pay attention to what you have drawn. Remember to apply line stroking you just learned. Add in some window frames, and smooth out the shape of the car.
An object closer to you will be darker and sharper than an object further away. Do this with the Wheels and Window. The 2 wheel closest to you should appear darker.
*Remember to take a break every now and then* _________________ [IMG:400:150:03f161352f]http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/2235/kitaassignaturejz2.jpg[/img:03f161352f] |

| Are you going to post examples soon? (such as the stuff with making hands from the last thread) Also are mechanical pencils good for anything? I'm just asking since I find drawing with these much easier than normal pencils. |

mechnical pencil make good tools for technical drawing. In Technical drawing the lines are fairly the same in terms of level shades. The only problem with mechnical pencil is that they can't shade, but feel free to use them for normal sketches I use them quite often. _________________ [IMG:400:150:03f161352f]http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/2235/kitaassignaturejz2.jpg[/img:03f161352f] |

| I was just wondering...when is the next lessone going to be? I need to improve my drawing lol. Also, I think you may want to copy and paste the advice you gave on the last thread, so you won't have to repeat it. Unless of course thats one of the later lessons lol. |

*uh... i don't wanna violate the bring up the dead thread rule, but I wanted to bring my class back to life again.* ~ Gomenasai
Lesson 2
Well it's been so long i had reread what I talked about in the other lessons. Today lesson will be kinda short but i'm low on time so please bare with me.
Today's lesson is....
Basic Weapon Forging/Framing
This is a good lesson for all art student to start of with. Doesn't matter boy or girl, what learnt here can be a good way to apply to everything.
So let's start, a basic weapon is essentially a sword or knife. Nothing too fancy has to be done, but starting is the key part here.
Remember way back about the Line Stroking? well we'll apply it here. For practice try drawing a basic sword.
Now on the outside it should have a darker outline to make it really stand out, on the inside add 2 parallel lines. Also draw them fairly dark. These two should be space evenly in your side. Now we have a very plain blade. Let's add the handle, start of with an upside down triangle at the bottom of the blade. (Tip of triangle should point exactly the opposite direction of the blade) Most common sword have a wider grip area so add a small concave (basically a U shape facing out) curve on each side starting from 1 point on the triangle on to another. Do it on all 3 sides. Erase the straight lines of the triangles and you should see a fairly rough but decent handle. The reason why you have a concave facing the blade is the link section. Most people just covers this patch with another triangle except this time the point is following the blade. I'll be sure to add a diagram for this lesson as soon as i return home. _________________ [IMG:400:150:03f161352f]http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/2235/kitaassignaturejz2.jpg[/img:03f161352f] |
