Not to be off-topic, I do not have problems with wireless internet. This belongs to the tech area, not here in the FFA. _________________

If I'm correct you can put a password that protects/encrypts your wireless internet connection and whatever you send through it. In order for your neighbor to steal it then, he or she would have to know the password. (I unfortunately can't explain how to set it up, since it might be different then mine and it's been a long time since I have set mine up.) Mabye someone else can expand more on this and give you directions. |

that means you either don't use password or use a very easy to crack password
the way to get out of this is turn off your wireless and use lan which is faster by several times
to put the pssword you need to go to the modem server
you can do a lot there(and ask the customer service/IT networking friend _________________ Haruhi: "Crab is a no-no. Picking the flesh out of the shell drives me nuts. Why crabs make their shells hard? How come they evolve like that?"

it all depends on how you have your network set up. the most common setup is broadband cable->cable/dsl modem->router->computer. if you have a wireless router, setting a password is as simple as accessing your router's interface (usually done through a web browser) and finding the Wireless Security options.
i dont know of any wireless modems, so i couldnt help you there, but i'd assume that the process is analagous. _________________

How are you so sure that your neighbours are stealing your connection? And what is the problem? Is it slow? Difficulty in connecting to the router? I seriously do not see any problem in that statement..... _________________

If your wireless router or modem has MAC filtering, use it. Just add the computers you want to allow Internet access to the list.
In case you don't know where to find your MAC address:
1. Click Start Menu\Run and enter cmd
2. Type ipconfig/all and enter
3. You should see a list of network adapters, just add the physical address of your wireless card to the filter. _________________ What's yours is mine, what's mine is still mine. |

On that page, look for something along the likes of wireless security, its different for each modem / router, so i can't walk you thru this, but anyway, look for something about WEP or WPA, just change it to WPA and type in a password.
Then go to control panel > network connections > wireless internet connection... actually... can't be bothered any more, yous figure it out.... getting sleepy. |
