What do you mean by coloured box? Can you capture the screenshot of the icon? _________________

i think he means that his desktop color doesnt match his wallpaper so that the icon text is wrapped in the desktop color. i dont know what causes this as my icons usually appear to have transparent text background. but when i switched to a Dethklok bg with only the deth logo in a transparent bg, the desktop color showed through in the icon text boxes only. the only solution i could find was to try and match the desktop color to the "transparent" color of my new wallpaper. _________________

1. Right click My Computer and click properties
2. Click Advance tab and Settings
3. Scroll down and tick "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop" _________________ What's yours is mine, what's mine is still mine. |

Ok, you can either right click My Computer\Properties or go Control Panel\System. Both ways lead to the same window - System Properties.
The first tab you'll see should be General and there will be other tabs beside it like Computer Name, Hardware, Automatic Updates etc. Look for Advanced and click it.
There will be three Setting buttons, just click the first one for Performance and you should see the Performance Options window. Under Visual Effects tab, click Custom and scroll down. Tick "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop" and your desktop icons should now have transparent background.
Windows XP and 2000 have this function but i'm not sure about the rest. If you use other version of OS, that i can't help you.
If you want to change the color when selecting desktop icons, just right click anywhere on the desktop and click Properties. Under Display Properties, go Appearance tab\Advanced. Under items, click Desktop and choose Selected Items and you would be able to change the color. I don't think there is a way to make it transparent since this is the purpose of highlighting. _________________ What's yours is mine, what's mine is still mine. |
