Hayate the Combat Butler (Hayate no Gotoku)

i was first introduced to the manga for this about a year ago and absolutely loved it. suffice to say, i'm freaking thrilled that they finally made an anime adaptation. to put the icing on my sweet sweet cake, none other than Kugimiya Rie (Shana and Louise) is voicing the lead female char. that's right folks, another great tsundere in the making! and as if that weren't good enough, Tanaka Rie is playing probably the best meido you'll ever lay eyes on xD.

the story's about Hayate, a boy sold to the yakuza by his gambling addicted parents to settle a debt. he gets away, and while in the park spies a young girl. determined to pay off his parents' debt, hayate decides to kidnap and ransom the girl. but a misunderstanding leads the girl to think that hayate is actually confessing to her. stuff happens, and it turns out this girl is actually the granddaughter of the richest motherf***** in japan. hayate's actions lead her to make him her butler. antics ensue.

trust me on this, you'll want to watch this, or at least read the manga =P. here's to hoping someone reliable will pick this up for subbing.

Yes! A tsundere and maid, can't go wrong with these proven formulas. It's something this season really needed more of.
Wakamoto Norio as the narrator was a nice touch too.

I found this one quite funny...

Everything from the angel encouraging him to do the kidnapping to the little guy holding the sign to hide Hayate's wounds.

the blood/guts censor is a bit annoying.. it would be funnier without it, seeing em spew blood.

is the narrator the same seiyu as "Yoshinaga-san chi no Gargoyle's" Gar-kun?

Our butler protagonist is the same seiyuu for the one in Mahoraba, yes? At least it reminds me of Mahoraba whenever Hayate talks.

Good first episode.

Kugimiya Rie was perfect for the role, thanks to her previous voiceovers as Louise and Shana. Very Happy

Plenty of laughs in the first one already, especially
The angel and devil in Hayate's head telling him what to do with the kidnapping of Nagi.

Looking forward to the next episode. Very Happy
