Synopsis & Reviews

Looks like its gonna be an interesting series. I'm kinda surprised they decided to go for a title in spanish, given that the typical thing is to use English or Japanese... Although I wonder why call it that. It translates as "the (male) hunter of the witch". Assuming that the Witch is Ellis, one wonders who the hunter is supposed to be.

Well, ep 1 was fun. Looking forward to the rest.

it takes place in South America.

In other notes... this is by the same creator and production team that made Noir and Madlax. This is the 3rd in their girls-with-guns triology.

Basic premise is the same as the other two... two assassins, shaky pasts, memory issues. I'll clarify it all tomorrow.

Started from the OP credits, I had flashback of Noir and Madlax. It feels very much like them both with Bee Train doing the production and Yuki Kajiura the music.

No opinion of it yet as while I liked Noir, I did not like Madlax.

It's following the formula of one bouty hunter teamed up with another female who does not know of her past and goes looking for it.

Yeah, that explains the spanish... but not the "hunter" part.

Well, since I haven't watched either noir or madlax I might as well stick around on this one.

IIRC and considering it's a Noir/Madlax indirect-sequel, there are hunteresses involved... one of them possibly having memory issues.

I have episode one waiting for me at home... I'm gonna watch it later tonight

But cazador is male! Cazadora is female!

*sigh* I'm probably the only freak who gets hung up on this kind inconsequential of thing.

according to *another* anime site... Ellis is wanted for murder and the other girl is helping her escape. The Hunters are the organization pursuing them... kinda like that mafia group (crap, I forget the name) from Noir and Elda Taluda from Madlax.

ooh... I see Savage Genius is doing their theme music... nice. I loooovveee them... the openings to Uta~Kata and Elemental Gerade are amoung my favorite songs of all time

well Leoxjm, "cazador" can be use as a general term to refer both male and female hunters >.>

But if you want to specify one gender then yeah cazador for male and cazadora for female, also cazadora in some spanish speaking countries may refer to leather jacket O.o

Not in this case, because of the presence of the "El" indicating a male, singular hunter. If it were pluralized the gender neutrality would stand, but in singular it doesn't.

The difference can be inferred from context.

Anyway... does anyone else think that all this is important? I really don't care anymore.

No, but it's interesting to listen to (or read, in fact). I don't speak a word of Spanish, you see.

Anyway, the anime industry isn't exactly renowned for it's accuracy with non Japanese languages, is it? Rolling Eyes

I finally got around to watching the first episode. I could definitely see the Noir/Madlax influence. Based on the promos I saw, I didn't think I'd like the character design, but my mind has officially been changed.

So let's see, mysterious items...
- Noir = pocket watch
- Madlax = blood-stained bookpage, red shoes
- Cazador = a crystal rock?

I was actually looking forward to this one after reading about it over at AniDB in their '07 database. And the wait, although not too long, was actually quite worth it.

First episode sets a decent introduction to the characters, artwork and themes involved. There's quite some mystery already with Ellis burning that gun in that guy hand, the rock and ofcourse what happened during Ellis's past.

The two characters are likable in my opinion, I was expecting another Revi (Black Lagoon) but was soon wrong. But she's actually quite decide with that nice attitude, and a gun. Character designs are fairly decent, but I find Ellis's pretty good and especially the hair style.

Deffinitely will be continuing to watch this one, appealing and hope it'll stay strong through the run. Upon finishing the first episode, I thought it felt quite like Madlax and I've only seen one episode of that so far - appears I was right...

Alright! You can trust my word! I am the native spanish speaker here anyway (and used to be a lit. major before switching).
