Anyone else following that series?
Seems promising enough, the fact that what appears to be the main character is not some pre-teen/teen trying to proof something to the world (ala Naruto / Bleach) means it'll most likely have a plot |

yeh it looks really good, the op song struck a sour note with me at first(teh scenes and music didn't seem to fit each other) but after awhile or rather a second watch, it felt "ok" afterall, the lyrics are good and fit the theme.
im just glad the main lead isnt wielding a sword for a weapon. when i saw the spear i thought yeh, finally something different.
this should be a great adventure type setting, im really looking forward to the next episodes _________________ [img:400:237:866f672f5a]http://www.geocities.com/bktabz/mari_boya.jpg[/img:866f672f5a] |

| I don't actually know what to say about the first episode to be honest. It started well and gave us the plot, main character is pretty decent but we've got a shota to put up with. Art style is great, really detailed and makes the woman actually look their age. I've got to agree with above about the spear, the action scenes could be a little more interesting than the bashing of blades. I need to see more to get a better opinion but so far its not bad. |

Hahaha as soon as I watched the OP, I thought that this is definitely a straight shota material.
Anyways, it's nice to know that there are anime with somewhat realistically built female warrior who isn't a slim big boobed teenage girl. _________________ [IMG:258:200]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v435/ypark/sigs/3fsn.png[/img] |

Was anyone else reminded a little bit of juuni kokki when you saw the first episode?
It not just the realistic characters, but the way they think and act. While it's true that both stories are based off novels, I thought this one in particular is rather interesting. (Not to mention the art and action fitting so well into the story.)
For now, it does indeed look very promising. I'm very much looking forward to the next episode. >_> |

Actually, I was thinking exactly the same thing, mostly because of the art style for me though... didn't really notice about how the people act since I never got 'round to watching all o 12 kingdoms... |

Balsa kept reminding me of Blood+. Take her face, give her short hair, thin her lips a bit and you have Saya.
It is refreshing that they used an adult woman as the lead and proportioned her well.
It's unique that they are using a spear as her weapon of choice and that she will choose to not fight first if possible or run from a fight before entering into battle.
So far everything to keep me watching this anime. Also a plus point I read somewhere that this is being done by the same guy who did Ghost In the Shell. So should have a good story, I hope. |

I actually really like the first episode of this, shows alot of promise.
The opening and endings were pretty good, but I really loved the music within the show, fit really well. I'll be watching this one thats for sure. |

So far so good. 2 episodes in, and no lack of interest yet. Will be interesting to see what develops in episode 3. From the preview, it looked like she dies. As the subs said something about a mortal wound.
Definitely looking forward to episode 3. |

Yeah, so far this looks like the most interesting anime airing right now. I really hope that this "critical" wound doesn't spell the end for Balsa. My bet is that she does get seriously injured, but the young prince has some sorta healing power. I hate when that happens though, so hope the anime has something better than that....Ending animation seems to point out that there will be a time skip, prince looks much older...Balsa nowhere in there though... |

I think her mortal wound is so that she has a near death experience; that she has a flashback into her past that would explain why she does what she does.
I don't think she will actually die then be braught back to life. |

I liked the concept of the story reminded me of the short manga A Bat in Blue Sky. I like the animation style with the fatty lips..I love anime but I get tired of the pointy noses, chins and lipless mouths XD.
This character design actually gives a woman lucious lips.
So far overall the anime looks very nicely done and I jus enjoy the contrast between a warrior and child/Mother-figure and child.
I am very curious how the story between the female-warrior and prince will develop. |

| I agree, the lips are drawn nicely XD. Ah, seems that some of the OP animation chaarcters will be in the fourth epi. I liked the short spear fights in epi 3. |

This just gets better and better.
At first I didn't care for how Balsa didn't kill the hunters, but it worked out. 2 taking their wounded comrade back, leaving one to deal with the prince.
And no magic healing apparently either. Another definite plus. Can't wait for episode 4. |

ep3's animation was superb.. the overall deep environment was awesome oh and the fighting scenes as well.
her short spear is definitely a flexible weapon, she can slash, pierce, defend(coz its made of metal), and even budgeon with it(using the other end) well because it needed repairs, so yeh it was expected to break during a fight sooner or later, she lost some offensive ability when its blade flew off and may well be the reason that lead to her fatal cut.
im glad that the prince has a sense of responsibility and is somewhat kind, and not the usual brash arrogant brat whiner.. notice that he(so far) hasn't complained much about his situation, even when he cried at some point, he managed to suck it up and go forward, so its not really the least bit annoying when u see that happen..
man.. i gotta watch that ep a second time! _________________ [img:400:237:866f672f5a]http://www.geocities.com/bktabz/mari_boya.jpg[/img:866f672f5a] |
