Believe it or not, that is probably the most appropriate title for this series. the first episode was as formulaic as it can get. The only original thing about this show are the character designs, which are, in one word: fugly (yes, with an f). Cross your typical big-eyed alien with a baby head, and, voila, GF's character design. First time I say them, those eyes really freaked me out.

Let's see how many shows does this rip off in ep 1 alone:

Wise war=Giant robot combat: G-gundam
Cryptic girl who needs guy to bring the most out of her mech: Eureka seven
Pilot aptitude determined through game: Super Robot Wars
Robot repairs itself after going berserk: Evangelion
Post-apocalyptic world: Countless mecha anime series
High-school age pilot kid who doesn't know what's going on: Countless mecha anime series
Mech design: a cross between Gundam, rahxephon and Super Robot Wars.


And all of the above manage to look better at it. This is the first time I drop a show after just one episode, but this one isn't even pretty to look at.

Man, i watched 15 minutes of this and i'm regretting the half hour it took to download this.... As stated by leoxjm, the character design is fugly... the mech and story idea so far is not very original, and i have to agree that this is also one of the few anime i drop after watching the first episode.

I like this anime. It's not original. But it's taken elements from other series and made something different with it. And I think they've done a mighty fine job. I have nothing against rip-offs; only lack of creativity. This anime has it.

I can agree that character details and such are somewhat not of the common face we see in most animes now
The Mechs here had somewhat the Old-School Type (Like the Voltes or something) for ex. that Chinese Mech, had a face, as in face with lips, nose, eyes and such. It was somewhat disappointing, but it might be fair enough to watch.

I'm liking it so far, but those eyes, gah!

Oh, and of course the hero being a brain dead moron. People shooting at him, and then he has to be told to run, he is the target. BAKA!

Damn moron? What was your first clue? Idiot! The more I watch this, the harder time I have watching it. Rank stupidity is hard to watch after all. When its coming from the "hero" its even harder.
