Over Drive
This is a series that I must watch this season. I haven't seen an anime that's focused on, or in relation to, a school sport/activity since Suzuka. Over Drive has plenty of comedy, but for the story itself is what I would recommend giving this anime a try. |

the anime itself doesn't seem bad but the characters ehh...... truth be told they could use some work. they could have made the guy like more experienced, like used to riding _________________ ALL HAIL LELOUCH

Noo, that's no good. Coz then, the anime would be falling out of its archetype of sports story telling. It'll be boring if you're telling a story about a character who has already experience of what he's good at. You could do that if the experienced character has a lot more room for improvements and just create stories from that (take Hungry Heart: Wild Striker for example). OverDrive is one of those types that explains how it reaches the end or the climax (as you've seen the prologue) from how it started.
Discovering a talent and molding it is the most effective way in showing an anime. Watchers can relate easier since it's about a guy who's not good at anything and then he finally found something. That's much better than, "Oh, that guy's already good at <enter real-world specialization> and then he became better. Since I'm not experienced on what he's doing, it's pretty much pointless to fantasize about it." Right? It gives them a little to dream about. |

I like stories that diverge from the norm. After awhile, you have seen all of them, then its just humor and the unexpected that differentiate the animes. Unless they do something different like MoHS. Different is good, getting out of the established rut is good.
On a different note. Episode 2 was so pathetic, it was painful to watch. I'm embarassed to watch him try to ride a bike. Even if he succeeds finally, its so pathetic watching him push on the pedal and having nothing happen. He really is as the girl says, the ultimate idiot. Pretty hard to empathize with someone that moronic. Even if it shows how far he will eventually have gone. |

The first Episode dragged me in the story so I wanted to know what would happen on episode 2 then I really feel like watching episode 3 which I think would be the funniest episode in the series so far as of my opinion.
Overall it is a great anime |

Overdrive is a really fun watch. Couldn't stop laughing on episode 3. Some parts are just too hilarious. That's me though.
Highly recommended! Cant wait for ep 4. |

true it would do that but...well after watching ep two i just feel eternal pity for the guy. one more thing that i didn't like all that much is the part when the girl "discovers" his potential when he was painting, i just don't see how that could be realistic. I just hope that this won't become one of those sports anime that totally blows of reality like Prince of Tennis for example. If it can do that then it'll easily be one of my top anime _________________ ALL HAIL LELOUCH

Anime? Realistic? I'm not sure if you get the point of watching an anime or reading a manga. Well, if you're just trying to build up your top anime list, it's unfortunate that Over Drive isn't one of them. I hope you haven't seen ep 03 coz that'd be just a waste of your time. |

Wow, this is a pretty good anime. Haven't really watched any sports anime since Touch, and that was nearly a decade ago. I just hope they don't end up falling for the typical sports anime cliche where they have to discribe everything in fine detail. Nice touch of comedy though in this series, although I did pity the guy for his horrendous attempt at fashion (his hairstyle was just too hilarious).
Can't wait for episode 4. |

Hey just started watching this series and I'm am definately hooked. I must say the humor in this had me cringing and then laughing out loud (the attempt at fashion in particular).
I'm up to episode 6 and I've enjoyed them all so far. Helps that the gril is cute and sassy.

For me it was ok because his painting is the *only* redeeming feature he has at the start. It would just be to sad you stripped away this.

havn't seen prince of tennis (except the live action) but I don't get the feeling this would happen (except in the comedy parts). The start of episode one showed some fairly down to earth tour de france footage. |
