Anyone watching this? It's a concept that's so ludicrous it's actually quite funny: In order to save weight on a simplified rocket intended to make commercial use of space travel, an astronaut is told he has to lose weight drastically (down to 40kg!). He doesn't like this (obviously) and due to his escape attempt the space agency are forced to turn to... wait for it... a schoolgirl, of course!
The first two eps have been pretty entertaining and there are some interesting (but equally ludicrous) characters. I like the sinister female chemist, particularly. We're talking Stratos 4 stupidity here, but it's fun, so I'm not complaining.

the character interactions in this one are fun to watch, seems everyone on that particular island is a little bit crazy.
i just wished the 3d/cg and effects were as good as that of stratos4, meh i guess its their own style... cant tell if it was intentional or not but the cg really looks dated(well maybe not the 3d itself but the textures were too plain. have to wonder if they were going for that cell-shade look but doesn't seem like it..) =P other than that i wanna see what happens next..
so our main girl suddenly finds herself a little sister.. and her dad is just crazed.. but somehow i think theres more to the story her mom gave her about how he suddenly disappeared on their honeymoon.. or maybe im just thinking too much and her dad is just an idiot like everybody else on that island.

No sign of any lesbian space aliens, though... Sad
Hey now, no bad mouthing Stratos 4. That was a great show. Admittedly you sort of had to check your brain at the door, and this show is definitely the same way. But with stratos 4, the main problem was the whole conspiracy/coverup thing, while this one, needing the pilot to drop to 40 k is just silly. But it makes for cute girls in the space program, and thats all that matters right?

I liked Stratos 4, but that doesn't mean it wasn't stupid!
Any idea if there are going to be further series of that? I enjoy brainless fun and I don't mind admitting to it. Which is why I'm going to carry on watching this.

I've really been enjoying this series. As mentioned before, its rather brainless, harmless fun. But this last episode. Episode 6. I think it went beyond brainless into stupid. I'm hoping the next one brings it back on course into light entertaining if silly fun.
The sheer stupidity factor of having all that stuff happen to her because of a curse her brain dead father put on her. The idea of the rescue in space. I'd suggest if you are watching this, just skip episode 6, you really won't miss it.

Frankly, how can you not enjoy it? It's amusing. It's space. AND it's skin-tight space suits.
Yeah, the thought of everything being due to a curse, is rather stupid - but part of what makes the show so amusing. Though, they did seem to lay it on a tad too thick.
As for skipping the ep, I'm not sure about that myself - it does provide some character development for both of the girls *shrugs*

I guess what really bothered me about this episode, is that up until this one, they at least kept an eye on reality. Sure the idea of using these girls in order to save on weight is silly, but the idea of needing to save weight is real. However in episode 6...
When the capsule she is on gets damaged, they send another capsule up with her sister on board to rendezvous with her. This is so far from reality that to me anyway, it goes beyond ludicrous. Thats what really bothered me about this episode.
The curse being behind it is silly, but whatever. The idea that the father nearly killed his daughters by cursing every rocket that went up, unless someone tells him not to is tragic.
Don't get me wrong here. I'm still enjoying the show. I just didn't enjoy episode 6. The space rescue went a bit beyond my ability to suspend my disbelief, causing me to look at it critically. I'm hoping that the next episode is better. The preview certainly looks better.

And we are back on track. Episode 7 was much better, entertaining, and fun. Rather silly too.
Have to wonder whats with her, shuttling back and forth between Japan and the Solomons. And is she still enrolled in school, despite missing who knows how many days for astronaut training?
With the appearance of her friend from school though, it doesn't look like she is going to be able to just quit the space program yet. She'll probably get to go back into space again really soon. Of course it was obvious from the start that the friend would become involved in the program as well.
And yeah, it's obvious that Yukari WANTS to go back into space, regardless of what she's saying and doing. Miura's arrival will keep her on Soloman long enough for her to realize it...
And yeah, that whole school thing was kind of inane. She's missed weeks, if not months of school, and it's not even a slap on the wrist? Of course, one would assume that she'd have some type of tutor at the space agency... *shrugs*

I am so impressed with the fansub group Rakuda. 5 releases in 5 days of Rocket Girls. How awesome is that. Episode 6 kinda sucked, but 7, 8 were great, 9 was good though not great, and now episode 10 is out as well.
Keep up the great work. Despite its silliness, I've really been enjoying this series so far.

Aye - it's been quite an influx of Rocket Girls.
Personally, I've been enjoying this series so much probably because of its silliness
Well episodes 9 and 10...
deal with Akane's training.. and well... were kind of boring. they lacked a lot of the silliness which I was enjoying in the show, and was taking itself a little to seriously. I mean compare Yukari's survival training to Akane's. Alas... I'm almost afraid that they're going to try and take this into a serious show....

Well, another day another Rocket Girls.
Day 1 - Hey Rocket Girls, that should be fun
Day 2 - Wow, another Rocket Girls, cool
Day 3 - Er, huh, 3 in a row, amazing
Day 4 - *Shock*
Day 5 - *Stunned*
Day 6 - Ok, I don't know what to think anymore, just really, really cool

I understand what you are saying. Especially about Episode 9. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't as good as some of the others have been. And Episode 10 was more of the same, though seeing Akane in her space suit was definitely amusing.
Now downloading Episode 11. I'd have hated to have to wait after watching episode 10.

hmm.. ep12 will be the final ep??!
damn.. oh well.. i dunno about u guys, but ive enjoyed every single episode. all was in preparation for this mission i guess, build up, experience and all that.
lol had a laugh on the space suit comparison, nasa needs to see the advantages of plug suit fetish ... also yukari seems to have been on that island too long, now she's just as haphazard as the guys on the base in decision making.
this show makes me wonder if any of the apollo pilots really reached the moon(and back again) during their time.. -_- _________________ [img:400:237:866f672f5a]http://www.geocities.com/bktabz/mari_boya.jpg[/img:866f672f5a]

Well, a fun series, very silly, very unrealistic, but fun and enjoyable to watch. I very much enjoyed watching this sereis, and its one I'll be keeping in my archive. Thanks to Rakuda for subbing this. And especially for releasing this so quickly. Could hardly believe it. Starting from episode 6, releasing 1 episode a day until the series was completed. Just Wow!
Great work, thank you. Hope everyone else enjoyed this as much as I did.
