i'm having trouble getting a few video files to display correctly. all of my files compressed with MS-WMV9 play with horrendous color errors and gigantic artifacts. i've tried reinstalling my windows media video 9 codec, didnt seem to do anything. any help would be appreciated, here's a sample shot.

How about uninstalling that codec and just let the ffdshow do the decoding? You would have to enable the support in the ffdshow settings.

Does it do that to any player, even WMP?

yep, every player i have. mpc, zoomplayer, winamp, wmp 9 and classic.

edit: have uninstalled vmc 9. still same problem. GSpot says DirectShow is using WMVideo Decoder DMO (the only video codec other than VMC 9 it found) to play the files. it shows no video path or src type when it attempts to render, yet says DirectShow was able to render the video, which i guess is kind of true

editedit: got newest version of gspot and it gives me "Failed to create instance of DMO. Error: 0x80004002 (unkown)". i googled that and got a bunch of server setup help forums...

editeditedit: installed WMP10 and it fixed everything.
