What I don't like about the DS, actually, is the touch screen. Sometimes, if you get rather excited while playing a game, you could start to stab the screen a bit too hard, which would ruin the DS? I'm not sure, but too much touch screen could affect the lifespan of the screen?

I know what you mean and that was one of my biggest fears. However, while playing Feel the Magic I stabbed the screen really hard a few times (I hate the plants part of Nightmare) and it didn't do any noticable damage to it. I'm more woried about getting fingerprints on it now.

hehe..my friends preordered a DS for my birthday...i always thought it was a great handheld...i understand the point with the touchscreen; that sometimes scares me too. my favorite use for it is pictochatting with my friends during math class hehe... Mr. Green I was disappointed with the lack of launch titles with the DS though...in my opinion, super mario 64 DS was pretty much the only one worth getting...but feel the magic comes in pretty close.

Cool!!! I'm really going to buy, but with a whopping price of S$380, I'm still lacking in the budget department Sad

I am waiting for the PSP.

Dual screens just don't do enough for me. Oh well. If I ever need a fix I will borrow my firends DS.

I have a DS pre ordered for the UK friday release. I decided why not due to the fact that I can upgrade my SP. I still think Nintendo can put up a good fight int he hand held market as they have been through many hardships and successes.
As for the upcoming PSP, it looks delicious, but I am concerned about the design flaws that are so often raised up. I have the feeling that the DS durability will outlast the PSP.

The PSP isn't better, it's about the same size as a DS only less thick. I agree with you though. I don't want to walk around with a big bulky handheld.

I haven't gotten a DS yet. They don't really have all that many great titles yet, but I hear some great ones are in the works. I'll probabaly end up getting one once Pokemon Diamond and Pearl come out.

I own a DS. I was stupid and didn't buy one when I saw one. I saw them at wal-mart when they first came out for $150.00 and decided not to get one. Then the moment I chose to get one, they were sold out. I winded up buying one for like $230.00 off ebay Sad I was stupid I know, now they are in stock everywhere it seems. The DS is cool, but I haven't found anyone to use the chat system with. I like the fact that you can DS download with another DS and playing VS games with some of them even if they don't have a copy of the game like you. The touch screen is ok, I don't really care for it, but the dual screens are nice for like if one screen is for stats or options (Usually touch screen) and the other is for viewing.

The only DS game I bought was Mario 64DS since I loved that game when it came out for the 64 long time ago. The game is good, but without an analog stick it is slightly harder to play especially on narrow cliffs since you have to use the control pad and buttons to dash. I thought it would be 64 graphics, but it doesn't seem to be. It is close though. It seems slightly less quality then 64 graphics with cell shading to smooth it over.

The GBA playback feature is nice, but it don't play regular gameboy games and you can only play Single Player GBA games, meaning that you can't trade pokemon or play co-op with other people, even those who own a DS. which sucks.

As for the PSP it is nearly 2X the amount the DS cost ATM it seems. Maybe it will go down, but so far it is expensive. However, I saw an option for music, so I wonder if it will play MP3s, or be like a radio thing. Only time will tell.

For now though, I would wait before buying a DS till some good games come out.

Crtics stated that the square button will interfere with the screen. ending with either with dead pixels or a sticky button

I currently have a DS, and it has a lot of possibilities, but right now the game variety is lacking. If you haven't gotten one yet, you should just wait until you can get yours hands on a PSP, that is going to be incredible.

Some flash news from spokesperson reguarding about the PSP. News taken off gamesradar.co.uk

Quote:
Retail sources are today suggesting that PSP may not reach the UK until Christmas.

Following the news last week that PSP will not be released over here "for several months," many insiders pointed towards a summer launch for the Sony handheld.

Indeed, a July release was apparently bandied about by Sony at one point but this, it seems, will clash with PSP's launch in South Korea. And, as Sony never releases hardware in more than one territory at a time, in order to avoid hardware shortages, it seems a post-July outing for the machine is assured.

At this point, a firm release date for the machine is nothing more than speculative. But, given that July is apparently out of the question, retailers we spoke to were under the impression that Sony would further delay the UK launch until Christmas in order to cash in on what is by far the most lucrative period for new hardware and software.

At present, Sony is remaining tight-lipped on the subject but as soon as we get official word from the company on PSP's UK release we'll let you know.
