...oh i see. But doesnt really seem to make sense that things in the cyperspace can actually affect real life...

kinda wierd how they can "touch" cyperpets.

well the idea is kinda hard to explain... but u get the hang of it as the story progresses. its like everything is networked, and thru the use of glasses, u can see a graphical overlay of the network, which is indeed overlayed onto the real world, and updated in realtime(in most cases) so if something changes in the real physical world, the graphical digital overlay would change to match it in appearance, in some cases where there are annomalies hence they have these little orbs around to "fix" obsolete data..

also those using glasses, in order to interact with the digital layer(the digital objects as well as pets), have their own "dennou bodies/cyber bodies" represented in the layer(its like having a realtime digital mask of your body), in terms of where the lines of reality blur, the concept is well executed. cyber bodies connected to consciousness/subconscious, as our brain works of frequency, and the network operates in a certain frequency as well.. if u have seen 'serial experiments lain' thats mostly a good concept study tho it focuses on a different aspect.

in the case of dennou coil, in their world, since cyberspace is part of everyday life, ie everybody uses the glasses technology, it does affect their real life to an extent.

I realize I'm late on the go here, but I just wanted to say what an excellent series this is. I'm catching up on the 2007 series right now, and so far Dennou Coil is by far my favorite. I also agree with the first post in the regards that this does feel a lot like if Miyazaki had gotten his hands on Serial Experiments Lain, which apparently would have been super cool. I will say that like a lot of truly original anime Dennou Coil sort of gets a little abstract towards the end. It isn't nearly as WTF as Serial Experiments Lain's ending, but it's still out there.
