No thread on this series so I might as well start one. Don't really have much to discuss, just want to share an amazing berserk site with you guys.

This guy has been collecting statues since 1997 and his collection is quite amazing. His site will be a great treat for any berserk fan.

man i remember when i started berserk.. at first i avoided it because i heard it was just insane gore, which is fine and all, but sometimes too much is too much. Well.. my opinion really hasn't changed. In fact it's probably worse, considering how much crazy monster rape there is in there (and it's not even a hentai! so to speak..) but now i'm hooked on the story, which admittedly is good.

just watched berserk (which was great) but its obvious the anime only covers a tiny part of the story from the manga. what happens in the manga? can some nice person do a little manga synopsis please as i'm desperate to know what happens to guts - i'm guessing he goes around looking for the behelits, but what about griffon? and caska?

Here it is, hightlight at your own risk:

Gatts is introduced by killing the snake man, like in episode 1 of anime. He goes to next apostle, and kills him while almost dying himself. He gets sucked into a vortex where we see the godhand. He escapes and we get a flashback as seen in the tv series. Caska and him escape, but Caska has totally lost her mind. Gatts leaves her to hunt Griffith, but puts her in an Elven (Fairy) place where demons won't hunt her. Their son flows out of her and disappears, because it's basically a 'demonic feutus'.

He fights another apostle, eventually a battalion of paladins track him down because he is mentioned in prophecy (it's referring to Griffith, but they confuse him). He eventually fights these paladins, but surrenders because he's too weak from fighting for 2 days straight. He's captured, and the leader, who is a woman, is all high and righteous. Gatts is twisted because of him constantly fighting, so he kind of wants to show her what "real life" is, instead of the rich life she lives.

He escapes, and she follows along with her aide. Night falls during the chase, and demons posses beings and Gatts saves her from them. She begins to follow him, because she thinks that she can find the real 'black swordsman'.

He goes to castle keep where an inquisitor has been hunting witches. Gatts semi-fights him, as Caska and Gatts feutus returns and begins devouring the castle. Here Gatts meets a boy, and a witch. They become allies in attempting to fend off the growing feutus-thingie/ooze.

Griffith enters the mortal realm, and attempts to rally an army again, but it consists of demons (such as Zodd) as well as people. War is all over the place, and Griffith begins to take over the world. He sends a battalion to hunt Gatts down.

Gatts with the paladin leader, her aide, a boy thief, his elf, a witch and her elf go to a grove where the witches' mentor is. She gives them all magical items, and Gatts receives "Berserker Armour" which makes helluva stronger. Griffith's battalion arrives, kills the mentor, but is defeated with Gatts going fully into berserker mode. (Alas, we understand why we call is Berserk)

Gatts and co. go to a city to try to find a ship to go somewhere, I can't remember. There's some complications, but things are otherwise going OK. That's where the story is now.

Cheers Tevesh. Does the bit from the end of the anime happen in the manga? how do Guts and Caska get out of there? (and even if it doesnt how do you think they get out of there?)

PS where do you buy your anime? nextdayanime.com is the cheapest i've found, but then the uk is always soooo expensive.

I live in Canada, so I usually buy it from specalty stores or I order them at my store and get employee discount.

Which huge demon guy? There's a bunch.

Highlight at your own risk:

Gatts and Caska are rescued by the skeletal knight that basically says to Gatts that he lives outside of the stream of fate or something like that. He shows up now and then to give slight clues. We learn that the berserker armour used to be the skeletal knight's armour, and he says that if you die within it, you might end up like him.

This is my favorite anime series ever. I hate the ending so much though. Gatsu gets completely screwed over. I wish they would animate the rest of it. Gatsu is the best protagonist ever though, without a doubt.

Wow thanks for that synopsis of the continuation in the manga. I was wondering what happened after the anime ended. Well that just makes me want to read the manga even more.....
