juz to ask, i m a singaporean here, n i wanna noe, dling anime from net izzit illegal (sry if my spelling is wrong) as far as i knew, some anime is not liscened by any company, so DLing them from the web izzit wrong???

it is wrong to DL liscened anime(we all knew about it) , but i not sure if unliscened anime.

DLing licensed anime is wrong and illegal yes, but good luck trying to find any sources. As for unlicensed then no it is not illegal to download the fansubs but if you can then buy the anime when it comes out to show support

i m a light anime DLers where i DL less then 4 anime per week, unlike heavy DLers at least 5 per days.

n worst, i dunno if the anime that i currently DLing now (nanoha StrikerS) izzit liscened by them, but under the website in Sg anti video authorized titles, StrikerS is include.

N also, i juz got the news last night that Sg now is currently cracking down anime Dlers. Crying or Very sad

my days of anime comes to an end.

well if you can still find the torrents (i'm assuming that's what ur using) then i'll go for it cause the subbers will take the source off the net if its already licensed or get sued

the problem does not come frop the fansub, infact it is like breaking of laws in our country.

not sure... but does www.veoh.com and www.crunchyroll.com count as downloading? provided you only watch in the low quality stream?

That and does anyone track IRC bots from the subbers? How could you?

If you say so. Its peer to peer sharing so unless the other peer is a singapore cop... how do they know?

this is a question that many of the anime blogger r thinking too. the only way to track down P2P downloaders is to be a tracker in the torrent. they did not give any info on how they do to tracks down P2P downloaders. N, if they r really doing it, this is serious case. Mad

up till now, i hv totally no idea how they do their tracking. but from some blogger post, it seems that when they get hold of the downloaders IP add, they will look for that IP add service provider n get the personal info from there.

I live in singapore... yet, I haven really met anyone who doesn't own pirated goods in their houses. Yes, cop friends included.

Can you give me the site that shows the authorised titles? and where you get the news from?

I don't know... I'll probably continue anyway. For manga, I download then buy them to show support as well as to own them. But for anime, Singapore is limited to mostly VCD quality and lousy subs, limited choices and stupid prices... What can I do?

for me i dun dl manga (i hv a while set of shaman king, inuyasha, bleach.), but i do buy them. for anime, i hv the whole set of inuyasha with me, GSD last box (lazy to buy the 1st 4 box).

n its true that SG video produce poor work. how m i gg to buy from them???? waste our $ on crappy work???

Damn that sux.the news all over in all of the singapore 's newspaper on Friday.But theres 1 question how can they say that they own the rights to stop us from dling fansubbed anime.this is different from buring the orignal vcd can copy it into another disc and sell,and whats more is that the sub are not even done by them.they just do not own the rights to ban us from dling other people's work

Damn i didnt read the papers in wednesday...

I'm pretty sure I'll finished up my Lucky Star, Strikers and Mai-Otome Zwei... I'm not sure about downloading new series now...

Anyway that letter is from Febuary... I wonder how many people they have got by now?

And also, they are invading people's privacy in the first place by tracking people's ip and stuff... so in a way it might led to legal confusion because they might have broken laws in the first place... They're a private organisation after all...

Grr....

Edit: Lucky Star and Mai-Otome Zwei isn't on the list, but Mai-Otome is. but different titles, oh well.
