Went to the AVPA site you mentioned.

"DID YOU KNOW?

71% of consumers are unaware that a video product with a censor-board sticker does not equate an original copy "

Feels ironic the use of 'original copy' it should say licensed copy.

"The Film and Publication Department(FPD) issues a censor-board sticker to endorse censored videos, but no check is made for original or pirated version

Of the 300 video stores in Singapore, almost all of them carries pirated Japanese animation and Drama VCDs "

That is just wrong. In america sometime those are bought over ebay, but I thought they suck. still if I'm paying for something I want it to be licensed offical stuff or I'd rather download it.

"Most people caught in pirated video raids are “Scapegoats or “Dua Bei Gong – paid by the real pirate to face the penalties if caught "

Um...interesting.

regardless this seems to deal with the PHYSICAL sale of licensed stuff in pirated disk form isn't it?

hope this explain.

i m fking pissed now that i cant get my StrikerS. WAIT WAIT WAIT. SICK N TIRED OF WAITING ANIME RELEASE IN SG. FKING SLOW!! Mad

Since most bot has a xdcc list on the site of the fansubbers. For example KAA has KAA|XDCC. Most of the subgroups have there bot listed somewhere. And for Yesy, they usually use 2 Bots so you can still safely download anime. Just don't go download anime from bots your not sure of if they belong to the fansubgroup or someone from them.

And should that fail you can still look for a proxy which direct traffic by a pc people dropped in universities or something. That way all the data goes to that computer who figurly no one owns. And that way they won't be able to track down who the data goes to.

But meh.. There are tons of way's to stay out of problems. You can just download from university for example. Get a program that changes mac address and you can go a long way to.

So no problems and happy downloading Very Happy

Resistance is futile ! the government there resistance that is Razz

Yeah truely sucks. Saw the letter sent from this certain company to the poor guy. Wtf man and heard they are charging $10,000 for each anime episode(Not sure if i'm correct). That will be like abt a million bucks just for bleach which that guy is mass downloading. Crap. Hopefully i can finish Claymore before they licensed it. Btw didn't know that downloading in university is safe, should try it, but my bittorent cant work with my university's connection, sad.
Let's hope that company can go bankrupt and the anime be unlicensed. If not i'll just stick to crunchyroll etc. Not going to support them in any way unless they improve their qualities.

Um, assuming the fansubber itself isn't the police. then you can ask the fansubber. and get it directly from their bots. (usually they list them)

for Nanoha. the bots in their channel are yesy bots and therefore are not cops.

Try what i said at your own risk. Don't blame me after when something went wrong. Very Happy

I usually download anime from my university because they got such a kickass connection. Downloads speed up to 5mb/s+ and i even uploaded with 8mb/s on torrents before. The only problem was my harddisk couldn't keep up with the read and write actions.

As for my university. All they got is my Mac address that i had to register. If i download a tool to alter it they can never find out who download what.

Sadly, Singapore Poly (SP) has a firewall (bluwall?) that blocks P2P programs... sucks.

Anyway, just found out another great anime shop for you guys... Chinatown Point, second floor... It's not visible if you stand in the atrium, so you gotta walk a bit...

Hmm... the figues AVPAS showed are dated 2002... since then many pirated game/VCD shops has been raided. I hope they're mostly targeting those only....

If you mean the Xdcc bots i mentioned earlier. a.f.k has one to. The xdcc list can be viewed here:
http://shana.is.moelicious.be/afk.txt

It's not some sort of tracker. Xdcc is requesting a file from a bot. Your downloading from a bot directly. There is no need for Upload. And some of the bots can send files with 5mb/s. The bots from animada for example can send Deathnote to me at 3mb/s...

Umm... I dunno. I meant this:

Does that apply to a.f.k too? As in, is it safe to download from afk?

Yes. The link i posted earlier about a.f.k shows the content of the bot. a.f.k has atleast 1 bot from what i quickly saw in there channel.

And for how safe it is... To my knowledge it should be safer than torrent... Though the exact details of tracking people ip address and stuff is a bit vague to me as i don't bother with things like that. But you request a file from the bot. Bot sends it to you. That's all there is happening. And for who the real owner is of the bot.. who knows... But i doubt it's some government official setting a bot up. Seeing the name the bot must be from afk. Most bot from subgroups has names like.

KAA has KAA|XDCC
ANI-Kraze has A-Kraze|<Botname>
Eclipse has eclipse|<botname>

So that way you can usually tell if the bot is from the subgroup or not. It's sort of a unwritten rule. But when you download enough by xdcc you get the hang of it.

And afk bot name is afk|IzumiKonata.
Which sounds quite afk like to me Razz

And as i said i'm not to aware of the tracking method of the government. So try them at your own risk Razz

If you really wanna know how safe xdcc downloading is just look in to the exact detail of how xdcc works and you should have a picture of whether it is possible or not for the government to be able to find your ip and downloaded content. Just try them at your own risk and ask some expert about internet and things like that for details about things like this.

Hasn't the people form Singapore formed a united front or something? Singapore must of have a tech site with information about computers and stuff... Perhaps they have already found a way to bypass stuff like that.

Should something like this happen in the Netherlands i can only imagine the largest tech community site of Holland would gather and find a solution and post it and just laugh at the government face.
