Hi I have downloaded some anime with the MKV extension.

I cannto see the subtitle for some of them, eg the new Aquarion and SkullMan. But I have no problem with anime like Code Geass with MKV format.

Can anyone help and advice me?

Just moving this to the tech area so the tech masters can help you, okay?

And what I learnt yesterday ... if the subtitles are in .ass format. You just need to save it as the same name as the MKV file and have .ass instead of the .mkv, in the same folder as the mkv file, you should be able accsess the subtitles when you watch that anime ... Confused ... hope that helps in some way Confused

If you are using VobSub as the display filter for your subtitle, you should see the green arrow icon at your system tray. You just need to right click on the icon and you should see the list of subtitle. Just choose one of them that works for you.

If you are using Haali Media Splitter, then there is a whitebox icon at the system tray. Just do the same as the VobSub.

But, that only applies if you are using MPC as the media player. I have tried BSPlayer, but they are using their own filter, so they are not able to read the .ass file inside the MKV container.

Hope that helps to answer your query =)

For a video player to function properly, it needs the correct filter and codecs. The easiest way to solve the problem would be uninstall KLite and install CCCP.

S: Undetermined does not mean that there is no subtitles there. It is called undetermined because the creator does not name the subtitles file in the container and that is why it is displayed as undetermined.

If you try to tick any of the subtitles, it should be displaying the subtitle.

h264 codecs and mkv containers allow for greater compression (smaller files) and higher quality within those compressions. it can be very strenuous on an older computer, but most find it a fair price to pay for amazing quality anime.

cccp and media player classic (MPC) should be all you need to play just about any anime in existance. but it is not an all encompassing package, so dont be suprised is some files dont work.

I have the same sentiment as you previously regarding this, but after playing around with the media and also the container-based video formats, I found out why and it is like ddogt said: better quality with greater compression and higher quality. It is also making subbers' life easier since subtitle errors fixing and dual sound capability is possible without too much of a hassle to be integrated into the file.

it's just like all new technology. may seem troublesome at first, to fool with something tried and true, but ends up being a valuable tool.
